Brady twins bring delight to grandparents

Anya and Erin Brady

Arthur Brady is best known in local sporting circles as an experienced cricket umpire and administrator, with great support from his wife Shirley, but his major sporting interest centres now on his very talented twin ten-year-old granddaughters Anya and Erin.

Also thrilled by their progress are Pam and Paul Davies, who was formerly the vicar of Jeffreyston, who are equally proud of their sporting grandchildren and follow their activities with interest.

Both girls currently attend Undy Primary School in Monmouthshire. Anya is making a name for herself as a talented middle-distance runner whilst Erin is equally as good in gymnastics, to the delight of their parents Anthony and Wendy.

Anya stars in middle-distance running . . .

Anya represents Newport Harriers Athletics club and has this year won the under 11 girls 800m at the East Wales U15 Welsh development league meets in Hereford, Cardiff and Newport.   She recorded her best time this year in Cardiff of 2 minutes 47.89 seconds with an impressive run, with a clear lead from the start.

She also is a member of Lliswerry runners in Newport. In cross country, Anya was the first girl to finish the 2.4k race at Devauden races near Chepstow in May and has been the first girl in the Chepstow Racecourse ‘Mini Stampede’ for the past two years.

. . . And Erin’s pure gold in gymnastics

Erin represents Wye Gymnastics Club, competing in acrobatic gymnastics with her partner Lucy performing breath-taking acrobatic moves, dances, tumbling and lifts. She has competed as far afield as Saltney in North Wales, Portsmouth and Milford Haven and received a silver medal at the Gemau Cymru event in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff last year.  Erin also competes in TeamGym, a team competition which includes routines performed on floor, trampette and a tumbling track.  Her team’s most recent success was a gold medal in Crawley, West Sussex.

Videos bring joy

Both have highlights of their respective successes on video recordings which delight both sets of grandparents, with  both will soon be attending Caldicot School, where they will undoubtedly be pursuing their respective talented sporting careers and in their way flying the Pembrokeshire Flag so well worn by their smashing grandparents!
