18 months ago  Neil Warner asked his instructor if he could  grade in the traditional manner for his Black Belt. This request was accepted and Neil was subjected to two nights and the whole next day of a rigorous training and examination schedule by Chief Instructor Mike Blackborow, 5th Dan.
 
This culminated in Kumite – fighting opponents from many Martial Arts disciplines for a prolonged period. Neil aquitted himself with great courage and spirit and was awarded his first Black Belt afterwards.
