2023 SNOOKER - Waterloo pair lift doubles crown

HUBERT TOWNSEND SHIELD

Hubert Townsend Shield finalists

The Waterloo Club were a dead certainty to win the Townsend Shield on Monday night when four of their B team contested the Townsend doubles final on their home table.

The highlight of the final was a sparkling break of 38 from Alan Davies which cemented victory in the second frame. Leigh Walters and Gary James started well in the first frame, but Alan and his partner David James soon overtook them to take the lead, and David took the pink for victory.

David started the second frame with some good potting and up popped Alan with his 38 and it was all over.

With David and Alan having the momentum they both potted some good balls in the third frame and ran out easy winners, in a one-sided final they dominated.

Adrian Slade and Ian Ashworth had the white gloves on.
