Carew crowned Division Two champs at first attempt

Carew (97 for 4) beat Haverfordwest Lightning (87 all out) by 10 runs

Umpires - Ian Milsom and Huw SimpkinsCarew were deservedly crowned champions of Division Two at their first attempt at the indoor game and so will test their skills in division one next season - no mean feat with such a young team that battled back from early set-backs and eventually beat Haverfordwest Lightning, who lost second spot in their final table as a result.

The Rooks were well led by Corey Hall, who had both brothers Ethan and Logan playing in the team, the latter for only the second time and playing a key role with runs and a wicket.

They suffered a massive set-back as they lost key batsman Rhys Lewis, run out without facing a ball - and they looked in dire straits on 35 for 3 with only four overs to go after Corey and Ethan Hall came and went.

Good ‘indoor cricket’ by Jacob and Logan

But Jacob Knox and Logan Hall played brilliant ‘indoor cricket’ as they ran well between the wickets and took 17 off the eighth over and 13 off the ninth over to regroup well, assisted by some wayward bowling by The Lightning that produced 25 extras.

The Lightning team included three doctors, an anesthetist and physiotherapist from the hospital, plus a general practitioner, with skipper Mark Davies standing down as the only non-medical man but taking on the role of scorer!

Peter Soulsby departed for a duck, bowled by Corey Hall but Doug Johnson looked in his usual attacking mode until he was removed at a key time by a straight one from George Waters. Sul lei an Sfax and Mudit Jain went cheaply but Aaron Prabhu joined the irrepressible Shan Perreira to stage a fight back before Prabhu became Corey Hall’s second victim.

It left Perreira on his own and he looked likely to lead Lightning to victory as he sped to 48 but then a run out saw the innings end abruptly, a tantalising 11 runs short of victory - and with seven balls to get them!

Bill Carne, of PembrokeshireSport.co.uk, the only media outlet to provide in-depth coverage of indoor cricket, said a few words of congratulations and the trophy was presented to Corey Hall by Patrick Hannon, who has done a fantastic job as indoor league organiser

Carew Batting: Jacob Knox 26, Logan Hall 26*, Extras 25
Lightning Bowling: Arran Prabhu 1-17, Doug Johnson 1-18, Suleiman Safi  0-11

Haverfordwest Lightning - Just missed out on second place

Neyland B - who have done really well to achieve second spot in the table

Neyland B take second spot with record victory

Neyland B (150 for 0) beat Pembs Seniors B (61 all out) by 89 runs

Neyland B produced a super all-round team performance as they smashed a luckless Pembs Seniors’ B team, with the margin of victory almost certainly being the widest in the league’s history.

Neyland batted first and all four early batsmen in skipper Lewis Page, teenager Dylan James, Simon Ellis and Martin Lewis all reached the retirement score of 25 - and Charlie French supporting with 23 not out.

Danny Potter, Neyland’s top batsman was left on 0 not out after he sportingly took on the last man’s spot and wasn’t needed as the Seniors bowlers took ‘stick’ when Neyland smashed 33 threes, three fours and two sixes - and with 29 extras taking them to their massive final tally.

Dylan destroys Seniors’ lower order

The Seniors lost Martyn Thomas early and although there were cameos from Mike Williams, Marc Evans and Phil Keen they lost their last three batsmen in quick succession as useful bowling by Charlie French, Potter, and Lewis kept things tight and after skipper Page claimed two wickets.

It was left to 15-year-old Dylan James to follow his excellent batting with three wickets to bring about an early finish to the game!

Neyland B Batting: Lewis Page 27*, Dylan James 26**, Simon Ellis 26*, Martyn Lewis 25*, Charlie French 23*
Pembs Seniors B Bowling: Mike Williams 0–28, Rod Murphy 0-29, Julian Forster 0-29
Pembs Seniors B Batting: Mike Williams 16, Marc Evans 12, Phil Keen 16
Neyland B Bowling: Lewis Page 2-14, Dylan James 3-12, Martyn Lewis 0-6

Seniors B - stuck at it to the end of a hard season

Herbrandston B - did well in tough conditions this season

Herbie too strong for lacklustre Lawrenny

Herbrandston B (108 for 1) beat Lawrenny (65 for 5) by 43 runs

Herbrandston finished their season on a high note with a convincing win over a Lawrenny team that didn’t seem at its best in the field, with missed run-outs and dropped catches - and were not in form with the bat either, considering their all-round talents.

Charlie Malloy and Morgan Britton got Herbie off to a great start which was maintained by Jack Badham, who has done such a good job as a guest player all season, and Atticus Kingston. Dillon Lewis chipped in with a few late runs and father Jonathan was unused, which meant he could save his energy for keeping wicket.

And Lewis senior took a decent early catch as Kingston grabbed the wickets of Taylor Lewis and Will Allen in successive balls, with Lewis junior also removing Rhydian Eynon to leave Lawrenny in a parlous state at 8 for 3.

Finley Lewis tried hard to settle things down but they fell further behind the clock with each passing over, with late support from Oscar Lewis - but by then the damage had been done as Kingston and Lewis shared four wickets, with Malloy also picking up a wicket to round off an excellent Herbie display!

Herbrandston B Batting: Charlie Malloy 25*, Morgan Britton 26*, Jack Badham 27*, Atticus Kingston 17
Lawrenny Bowling: Taylor Lewis 0-17, Rhys Eynon 0-16,
Lawrenny Batting: Finley Lewis 24, Rhys Eynon 16, Oscar Lewis 10*
Herbrandston B Bowling: Atticus Kingston 2-5, Dillon Lewis 2-14, Charlie Malloy 1-7, Morgan Britton 0-12

Lawrenny - a talented young side who be very strong next season
