Carew (117 for 1) beat Herbrandston B (93 for) by 24 runs

Rhys Lewis - more runs for in-form Carew batsmanNoah Davies - blistering innings for CarewCongratulations to the talented young indoor squad from Carew on winning the second division of the indoor cricket league at their first attempt as they have already garnered enough points to take the silverware, despite still having a game left next Wednesday.

The fledgling Rooks batted first against Herbrandston B  and openers Rhys Lewis and Dan Heeps quickly piled on the runs and enjoyed equal success as they retired on 25 not out, both running really well between the wickets and both rapping two fours and a six.

Corey Hall then contributed 19 not out in 18 balls and gave Noah Davies the strike as often as possible so that he could compile a lightning-quick 25 not out in only 11 deliveries, again with two fours and a six – and with 22 from ‘Mr Extras’, The Rooks ended up on a challenging score.

Herbie suffered a body blow when they lost ace run-maker Charlie Malloy early but his opening partner, who just happened to be his father Dai, scored an excellent 31 not out in 21 balls, including a straight six and four, with support from Morgan Britton,  another of the regular run-compilers in their camp, but only veteran skipper Johnny Lewis, with ten not out from his tail-ender berth and 12 extras, meant that Herbie were unable to challenge the Carew score as they finished well short of their target.

Carew Batting: Rhys Lewis 25*, Dan Heeps 25*, Corey Hall 19*, Noah Davies 25*, Extras 22
Herbrandston B Bowling:  Morgan Britton 0-20, Jack Badham 0-20
Herbrandston B Batting: Dai Malloy 31*. Morgan Britton 28, Jonathan Lewis 10*, Extras 12
Carew Bowling: Rhys Lewis 1-22. Noah Davies 0-8,

Pembs Seniors B (90 for 5) lost to Haverfordwest Lightning (94 for 4) by 2 wickets

Mike Williams - more runs for Seniors opening batJason Stobbs - vital runs for Lightning keeperPembs Seniors B’s improvement in the second half of their campaign continued against Haverfordwest Lightning as they compiled a decent total but  a late burst of runs by Lightning wicketkeeper Jason Stobbs ruined their hopes of a first victory.

The Seniors made a good start as openers Marc Thomas and Mike Williams both reached the retirement score to reach 54 in five overs but from then on batsmen came and went so that only Extras entered double figures as Mark Davies and Mudit Jain bowled well, ably assisted by talented young players of the calibre of Brandon Dewstowe and Dylan Lee.

Lee also batted well, along with Jac Peters and Mudit Jain, who was joined by keeper Stobbs at a key time – and the latter sped to his total with two fours and two sixes amongst his 11 balls faced as they won with 11 balls in hand!

Pembs Seniors B Batting: Marc Thomas 25*, Mike Williams 27*, Extras 13
Haverfordwest Lightning Bowling:  Mark Davies 1-23, Mudit Jain 0-15
Haverfordwest Lightning Batting: Jac Peters 19, Dylan Lee 20, Mudit Jain 14*, Jason Stobbs 26*
Pembs Seniors B Bowling: Marc Evans 1-13,  Rod Murphy 1-6, Jonathan Twigg 1-17

St Ishmaels (81 all out) lost to Lawrenny (82 for 1) by 5 wickets

Jonathan Pawlett - led Tish by exampleWill Allen - more powerful stroke play for LawrennySt Ishmaels fielded a relatively young team for their final match of the season and paid the inevitable price as they went down to a sixth defeat in the 12 games, as Lawrenny’s success allowed them to get closer to Tish with a game to play and a fourth spot in the table up for grabs.

Tish batted first and four of their players could only share seven runs, two of them recording ‘ducks’ as club captain Jonathon Pawlett and Neal Phillips batted really well, with Pawlett’s runs coming off 16 balls( two fours and a six) and the latter managing just one boundary but only coming from 23 balls, as ‘Mr Extras’ managed double figures in a relatively modest score against Noah Williams, Rhys Eynon. Finley Lewis and Will Allen.

Finley Lewis and Will Allen (three fours and a six in only 12 balls), got Lawrenny off to the positive start they needed and Oscar Lewis also batted well. There were also 14 extras at Lawrenny only lost two wickets, with Rhys Eynon going cheaply, and the only Tish wicket-takers were Jonathan Pawlett and Caydyn McGuire.

St Ishmaels Batting: Jonathan Pawlett 31, Neal Phillips 33, Extras 10
Lawrenny Bowling: Noah Williams 2-12,  Rhys Eynon 2-27, Finley Lewis 0-12; Will Allen 0-13
Lawrenny Batting: Finley Lewis 16, Will Allen 26*, Oscar Lewis 20*, Extras 14
St Ishmaels Bowling: Jonathan Pawlett 1-11, Caydyn McGuire 1-19
