There were runs aplenty as Hook belted 351 for 4 against Cresselly 2nds in division two and featured in that huge total was a partnership of 262 by opener Liam Miller and No 3 Aled Phelps after Miller and Dafydd Bowen had shared an opening stand of 51.
 
These bare details meant that Liam Miller ended up having batted throughout the innings to stroke three sixes and 20 fours as he ended up undefeated on 174 - whilst Aled Phelps smashed 5 sixes and 10 boundaries in his 143 before he was finally clean bowled in the 38th over, going for what he described as
“A bit of a slog because I was so hot and tired!
 
Another club record must also be the fact that then Hook bowled out their opponents for 81 as Callum James (4 for 34) and Lewis Miller (3 for 34) bowled really well and helped them to victory by 270 runs!
 

Five ‘tons’ scored by Liam- at 16!

 
Remarkably, Liam is only 16 years old and very much part of the Miller dynasty which has represented Neyland with distinction for many years and now finds Lewis and his older brother Lewis catching the eye at Hook, where the family live.
 
This was his fifth century since he scored one apiece at county under 11 and under 13 levels before starting out in senior cricket and making a real impact with previous three-figure scores, starting with 101 against Narberth 2nds in division three.
 
He followed this up with 146 against Llanrhian in the same section and now added this new top score against Cresselly 2nds in the second echelon of local cricket- and who knows what he can do if he maintains his current progress.
 

Aled is a genuine all-rounder

 
Aled is a member of another Hook dynasty because he is joined by his father Jamie and younger brothers Owen and Rhys in playing regularly for the club - and all four played alongside the Miller boys when they entertained the Wales 40s Club in a centenary celebration game on Sunday.
 
Aled had scored one previous century after scoring 147 against Crymych as well as string of other good scores and wicket hauls as a genuine all-rounder.
 
Both will always remember their part in such a record win for a long time to come and we are sure to hear about both of them for many years to come!
