Wizards suffer West Wales Cup heartache

Merlins Bridge line-up before their disappointing semi final defeat against Llangyfelach

2024 West Wales Intermediate Cup – Semi Final

Merlins Bridge 0 – Llangyfelach 3

Llangyfelach gained a comfortable three-goal victory against Merlins Bridge at Stebonheath to reach the prestigious final for the first time in the club’s history.

Merlins Bridge won the competition back in 2019, but in this re-arranged semi-final their hopes of reaching the final were dashed by the Swansea Premier League outfit.

Llangyfelach narrowly led 1-0 at the break but added two further goals in the second period to secure a famous win against the disappointing Wizards.

Ben Scannell set up Callum Boyce who netted the opener on 17 minutes, six minutes after the break Kieran Burder added a second.

It was an uphill mountain for Paul Thomas’ Wizards to get back in the tie, deep in stoppage time Scannell added his side’s third.

Llangyfelach will play current holders Penlan in the final which will be held at the Swanseacity.Com Stadium next month.
