Pembrokeshire runner Ryan Wilkins produced a scintillating run to win the Tenby 10k on Sunday as more than 700 entrants took to the streets to mark the return of the event, writes Fraser Watson.

Despite the course consisting of frequent inclines, former Pembroke RFC player Wilkins steamed home in 34:03, even finding time to pick up his young daughter in the home straight. He finished well clear of Cardiff's Josh Barnett (35:28) in second place, with another Pembroke based runner in Shaun Newbery third in 36:00.

"It felt amazing to be fair," said Wilkins, who recently joined the local Leastwetri club. "The support there was incredible and it was nice to have my daughter to cross the line with me at the end. It wasn't until the second lap when I realised I had a good lead but I enjoyed the course. It felt like a Long Course weekend with the amount of people who came out."

Donna is the first lady home

Well renowned Builth and District Running Club member Donna Morris was eighth overall, and the female winner in 37:32. Lucy Richards (18th overall) was second in 40:05, with last month's Dale half-marathon winner Sian Jones (20th overall) making up the podium.

For many runners though, it was simply about getting around and raising money for charity, as a number of the slower athletes opted to don fancy dress with a full shark costume among the outfits to entertain the crowds. The occasion marked the 10k run coming back to Tenby after a two-year absence, with the Waterfront group already confirming plans to run it again in 2026.
