Town under 15s miss out in ECB Final

Haverfordwest CC Under 15s

Haverfordwest U15s recently reached the Welsh area final of the ECB U15s Cup before losing out to Newport U15s at Ammanford CC.

Skipper Nikhil Mathias lost the toss and Haverfordwest were invited to bat by Newport Captain Will Smale. It was slow going early on as Newport bowled excellent lines before a straight six into the bowling green from Nikhil got the Haverfordwest innings going.

Nikhil batted superbly, falling just short of his fifty after getting caught on the boundary for 47 but Jonny White’s late hitting gave the Town’s youngsters some hope even though a target of 101 looked to be a bit short.

Newport's openers batted superbly, putting away any loose bowling but two wickets in two balls from Jack Wilson gave Haverfordwest hope until Tom Evans' 52no saw Newport home to a deserved victory.

Haverfordwest had done extremely well to make the final, beating Pontarddulais and Mumbles along the way with Nikhil Mathias (two 50s), Jack Scriven, Lewis Rhead and Jonny White all putting in good performances along the way.
