Goodwick United stop St Clears in their attacking tracks



There were six out of seven matches completed in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division on Saturday.

Hakin United comfortably won 4-0 at home against Johnston to stretch their lead from five to eight points clear at the top of the table. Top league scorer Nicky Woodrow banged in a hat-trick alongside a solitary strike by co-striker Justin ‘Skinny’ Harding.

Second placed Merlins Bridge lost 4-3 in a titanic tussle at Tenby, who have moved up the table to fourth position. Joe Leahy (2), Curtis Hurlow and Daryl Mansbridge netted for the Seasiders, whilst Matthew D’Ivry (2) and Stephen McNabney replied for the bitterly disappointed Wizards.Tenby win seven-goal tussle against title chasing Merlins Bridge

Neyland continued their good form with an excellent 3-0 victory at home against Angle; this win moved the Nomads up to third in the table. Gary Power, Henry Durrant and Wayne Parry all found the back of the net.

Goodwick United have gone to fifth position after gaining an emphatic 5-1 victory at home against St Clears. Bagging the goals for the homesters were Rob Morgans (2), Wayne O’Sullivan, Rhys Dalling and Lewis Banks.

Monkton Swifts came from behind to get a crucial bottom end of the table 2-3 win at fellow strugglers West Dragons. Ashley Prior and Rob Gibby scored for Dragons, but the visitors bagged the vital points thanks to goals from Daniel Scourfield, Craig George and Matthew Davies.

Saundersfoot Sports stay rooted to the bottom of the table after narrowly losing 2-3 at home against Narberth. Richard Cope and Sam Coleman scored for the Sports, but the Bluebirds secured the victory with goals by Matthew Price, Callum O’Connell and a Tony Evans penalty.

Herbrandston versus Pennar Robins was called off due a waterlogged pitch.
