2026 West Wales Intermediate Cup – Semi-Final
Hakin United 4 – Mumbles Rangers 3
(after extra time)
TEN-man Hakin United gained an impressive hard fought victory as they overcame Mumbles Rangers in extra time to reach the final for the second successive season played at Stebonheath Park on Wednesday evening.
Scott Davies’ Vikings have reached back-to-back finals for the first time in the club’s history. They will now meet Penlan in the final which will be held at the Swansea.com Stadium on Thursday, May 14
th.
Both teams gave it their all but the Pembrokeshire Division champions showed terrific desire to defeat their West Wales Premier League opponents.
Callum Edwards early header from a Jake Simone corner gave the West Wales Premier outfit who broke the deadlock. Camron Thomas headed home an equaliser on the 30-minute mark. Shortly after the break Vikings’ central midfielder Jack Britton put his side 2-1 ahead.
The Vikings were reduced to ten men as defender Jake Merry received a straight red card for an overzealous tackle in the 65
th minute.
With a one man advantage Rangers levelled matters in the 73
rd minute through substitute Charles Defour as he set up a tense finish. In the first period of extra time the Vikings grabbed two quick-fire goals through Jordan Kilby and Britton (his second on the night) to lead 4-2. Two minutes from full time Cole Amphlett pulled one back but it was too late as the Vikings held on for a famous win.

Rangers opened the scoring in the tenth minute when Edwards headed home Simone’s corner, but 20 minutes later the Vikings levelled matters when Kieran King’s throw-in fell to Britton who found Thomas who made no mistake with a close range header as the score read 1-1 at half time.
Three minutes after the break and the Vikings got their noses in front as Britton glanced a header from a corner in back of Max Riley’s net, Merry saw red and in the 73
rd minute Rangers equalised through substitute Defour whose deflected low shot found the bottom corner and forced this intriguing tie into extra time.
However, the Vikings incredibly grabbed two quick fire goals in the first period of the extra time period to put them in the ascendency.
Firstly, Kilby drilled into the bottom corner from the edge of the 18 yard box for his side’s third then secondly, Britton finished clinically from six yards for the fourth goal following good work down the wing by Kieran King. Amphlett struck late but the Vikings held on for a thoroughly deserved win.
