Haverfordwest County gained an impressive seventh win in a row after narrowly overcoming Caldicot Town at Jubilee Way.

Goals from skipper Sean Pemberton, Nicky Palmer and Lee Hudgell gave the visitors the all-important win and three more valuable points.

The homesters stayed in contention as Bluebirds goalkeeper James Gwilt produced two howlers that kept the result in the balance until the final whistle.

Bullet header

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 30th minute, when Hudgell’s corner was met by a 12-yard bullet header by Pemberton which flew into the roof of net.

Three minutes after the interval and the visitors increased the lead, Ashley Bevan’s ball fell invitingly to Palmer on the corner of the 18-yard box, and the midfielder unleashed an unstoppable right footed volley.

Caldicot pulled a goal back in the 63rd minute; Gwilt lost control inside the box and left an easy finish for Tony Wallis.

Bevan was unlucky not to add the third as the strikers wicked left footed strike rebounded off the post.

Hudgell scores

The visitors restored their two-goal advantage in the 82nd minute; Rhys Dalling’s clever cut back fell invitingly for Hudgell who lashed the ball into the back of the net.

In the 85th minute, Alex Jarman’s deflected cross was bundled into the net by Gwilt, but the visitors held firm for the remainder.
