Yannic Parker

1. Yannic Parker       Captain          33        Operations manager

Yannic who’s an ex-Welsh international rugby league player before injury took over is in his 3rd year of captaincy and it’s safe to say he’s made for the role! Powerful middle-order batsman who is fantastic in the field, with a great pair of hands, will be leading the club and travelling fans from the village to their first final on a very proud day.

 Tom Mansbridge

2. Tom Mansbridge                          22        RNLI lifeguard

‘Tommy Mans’ who opens the batting is without doubt one of the top three batsman in the county this year as his back-to-back league hundreds and 75 off 34 balls in the quarter-final against Neyland  can confirm. His left-arm swing bowling and top fielding makes him a key all -round figure in this Saundersfoot side and a good performance from him on Saturday could be pivotal in Yannic lifting the trophy.

 Danny Caine

3. Danny Caine                                              38        Electrician

‘DC’ has been an outstanding all-rounder for saundersfoot for many a year and today’s final is a reward much deserved. Danny is without doubt one of the quickest bowlers in the county and will prove to be a massive threat today, as shown in previous rounds. As well as opening the bowling, Danny does the same with the bat and is a key run getter in the side so a big performance from him today will go a long way to ensuring cup glory.

Sam Franklin

 4. Sam Franklin                                28        Youth worker

Sam is another all-rounder in the side who seems forever in the runs and wickets - and is also a key fielder in the side with a very safe pair of hands, Sam produced a MOM performance in the quarter-final against Neyland which included 76 off 54 balls and 4-34, a performance we will most definitely be hoping for a similar performance today, which is well within his capabilities.

Nick Cope
 5. Nick Cope                                      36        Electrician

‘Copey’ has been one of the mainstays of the Saundersfoot batting for over a decade and in that time has amassed seven centuries. But he also plays an important role with the ball, as he did with his 4 for 13 haul in the semi-final against Llangwm. He is renowned for his big hitting but in that game, he showed he knew how to read a game with 35 not out after his side had collapsed early on, batting with real patience to see them home. Nick  is also a useful golfer and could return to the game - but not before he finishes his involvement in a club he is thrilled to see playing in the final!

John Mansbridge
 6. John Mansbridge                          23        Apprentice ICA technician

‘Johnny Mans’ is a very talented all-rounder who has every shot in his armoury with the bat and is a rhythmic fast bowler who can win game. As a bonus he is fantastic in the field, outstanding with the ball, especially coming  from the garden end at Carew in the semi-final and also showed a cool head under a lot of pressure to play a gritty match-winning knock to see the side home with the bat; he is our sneaky bet for the MOM award!

Gareth Edwards

7. Gareth Edwards                            40        Managing director

‘Eddie’ or ‘G boy’ as his dear wife Soph’s calls him, is a powerful batsman who can bat anywhere in the order, as well as having a great pair of hands, as shown in the quarter and semi-finals with two important catches. He scored a match-winning unbeaten ton in the 2nds earlier on in the season and his team mates will be hoping he’ in the same form today with straight-hitting, as middle-order runs could be key.

Danny Brace

8. Danny Brace                                              38        Telecommunications engineer

‘Bracey’ is the side’s wicket-keeper who after some competition for places early in the season has cemented his place as Number One, with not only great work with the gloves a (stunning diving catch in in the quarter-finals was one highlight) but the bat also, if he gets his chance and gets going in the final you can guarantee there’ll be plenty of catching practice for the crowd!

 Simon Stanford
 9. Simon Stanford                             34        Process operator

‘Stanno’, the only left-handed batsman in the side, is another who could bat anywhere in the line-up. He is well-known for managing to hit the ball in obscure places and scoring at a very good strike rate – and in addition is the teams’ main boundary fielder, which he’s incredibly good at (when not chatting away on the fence). He will have dad Roger watching, who’s patiently waited 40 years for this final! A good rugby player, he once scored a lightning-quick hat-trick for Tenby United in a KO Cup Final and would love to complete a double in this final.

Scott Helmich
 10. Scott Helmich                              34        Tech sales

‘Scotty’ who in his younger days represented Wales from under 12’s level right through to minor counties as a quick left arm seamer, is also the only player in the side to play in a final,  in doing so twice with Carew, Scott who now plays as a middle-order batsman, is a great stroke play and is one of the top fielders in the side. His teammates will be hoping his experience comes to the fore. In a previous working life was a performance analyst with Swansea City.

Jimmy Caine  11. Jimmy Caine                                            41       Gas and plumbing engineer

‘Jimmy’is  a former captain of 10 years and has this year come back playing after a two-year hiatus building ‘Martletwy Mansion’. The big brother of Danny, he is a very clean hitter of the ball and hasn’t lost his hard-hitting exploits- and he was selected in 2001 to play in The Bowl final for Cresselly but missed out due to a rugby tour! Jimmy has a very safe pair of hands and it’s safe to say with a win today that would more than redress his disappointment!

Neil Powling
 12. Neil Powling                                            45 (at least!)   Mechanical Engineer

‘Powser’ continues to roll back the years for The Foot and has plenty of wickets under his belt for the season with his clever, disciplined bowling. He rarely lets the team down in terms of taking wickets, and also as it stands, is yet to be dismissed with bat ,which in fairness has never mentioned once! He tells us he is the best square leg fielder in the county and if selected will be sure to give his all. Also a talented rugby player in his much younger days!

 Iorri Richards

13. Iorri Richards                             18        Heatherton worker

‘Yoz’ has made giant strides with his cricket this year, scoring his maiden 50 for the 2nds and also been impressive with the bal. Iorri has played in every round and very much impressed with his fielding abilities and is also looking to pick up his third piece of silverware this year after lifting football and rugby trophies already!

Adge John  14. Adge John                        Scorer                         Retired builder

‘Adge’ started playing cricket at 14 played for Kilgetty, Narberth and Saundersfoot,  winning the Harrison-Allen Bowl in 1970 for Kilgetty against Carew. He also played in four Duggie Morris Finals, winning two, plus an Alec Colley defeat.

Adge’s football days also consisted of spells at Kilgetty, Narberth and Saundersfoot in which he won the senior cup in 1981, in his first season, and also won division one in 1982 and as assistant manager, won three Senior Cups in the 90’s as well as a seven-year stint as chairman.

Adge started scoring for Saundersfoot 14 years ago after retiring from playing and today’s game will unfortunately be his last because of eye problems and has said that he is very proud of his time with Saundersfoot.

David ‘Dickie’ Parcell                 15. David ‘Dickie’ Parcell                 54        Cricket Treasurer and  Saundersfoot Sports Chairman

‘Dickie’ has been part of Saundersfoot CC for 42 years from being scorer at age 12; then as player, captain, chairman and treasurer! Dick has had quite the cricket career for Saundersfoot, included winning divisions two and three but also represented Wales in Physically Disabled  County Championship from 2000-2010 and the England PD cricket from 2010-2012. He played for England against Pakistan in Dubai 2012 and was also selected to captain England but unfortunately the game was rained off! Dickie’s a huge part of Saundersfoot Sports and there won’t be anyone more happy if Saundersfoot lift the trophy!
