Runs galore for ‘The Doc’ recognised by a Thomas Carroll award

PCCC Player of Month - Simon HollidaySimon Holliday’s tremendous start to the cricket season saw ‘The Doc’ score no fewer than 702 runs in the first eight games played by Haverfordwest; run-gathering excellence that helped ‘The Town’ sit proudly atop the table at the half-way stage of the 2018 campaign.

Small wonder then that this series of superb scores has been recognised by Thomas Carroll, the Pembroke County Cricket League sponsors, who presented him with their ‘Player of the Month’ award for May.

Received on The Racecourse

He received this special award on The Racecourse from Thomas Carroll’s’ representative Brian Hawkins, the hon secretary of the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League, who has previously been involved in cricket at Spittal as a useful bowler who could also bat a little.

Also in attendance, as usual for matters relating to cricket in the county was Pembrokeshire CCC’s chairman Paul Webb, who later paid tribute to both sponsors, and ‘The Doc’.
“Thomas Carroll are excellent sponsors and we are delighted to be associated with them because of their progressive attitude to our game – and Simon Holliday represents the increasingly higher skill levels in local cricket.”

‘The Doc’ is delighted

It was clear that the recipient was delighted with this special recognition as he told us,
“I am very grateful to Thomas Carroll for organising this award, which any player in the county would be delighted to accept, and glad that my runs have helped Haverfordwest do well.”

There is no doubt that such awards are of benefit to cricket in the county and long may Thomas Carroll provide this special award as a means of raising the level of interest in what goes on in local cricket.
