Penybont 2 - Haverfordwest County 0

Penybont scored a goal in each half to secure victory against Haverfordwest County on a rain swept Friday night at the SDM Glass Stadium.

Bont manager Rhys Griffiths will  be delighted that his team picked up their second straight win while opposite boss Tony Pennock will reflect on a draw and a defeat on their first two outings.

A superb header by Lewis Harling and an audacious lob from Kane Owen saw no way back for the battling Bluebirds.

The visitors started brightly as Jack Wilson whipped in a cross from the right which evaded everyone in the box. Martell Taylor-Crossdale rounded Bont keeper Alex Harris only for his shot to be cleared off the line by Dan Jefferies.

Minutes later Keyon Reffell struck a low shot narrowly wide, before Chris Venables picked up a yellow for a challenge from behind.

In the 36th minute the hosts took the lead following a superb, angled header by Harling which flew in the top corner.

Four minutes before the break Danile Hawkins poor effort at the back post should have got the visitors back on level terms.

Ashley Evans also received a yellow for cynically taking out former teammate Kai Whitmore.

The Bluebirds made one change at the break as Ricky Watts replaced Wilson. On the hour mark saw Keyon Reffell was the third player to pick up a yellow card by referee Ryan Kenny.

On the 70 minute mark Rhys Abbruzzese was yellow carded for a clumsy challenge on Alex Harris, Whitmore was also shown a yellow.

In the 79th minute the Bont went two up, which gave themselves some breathing space, Zac Jones punched cleared from edge of 18 yard box, only for Owen to find the back of the net with an excellent lob.

The Bluebirds kept pushing forward, substitute Harri John forced an excellent save from Harris, also Ben Fawcett saw his goal bound header tipped over the bar by Harris.
