Pembs pummel Swansea in Tom Yeoman Field

Pembrokeshire A

Pembrokeshire Schools Under 11s took on their counterparts from Swansea Schools in the second round of the Tom Yeoman Festival and came away with a successful conclusion as they won three out pout of four matches.

Swansea A 2 - Pembrokeshire A 3

Pembrokeshire found themselves under the cosh from the kick off but defended strongly as  Teejay Gardner  in goal, made some outstanding saves and last-ditch defending by  Leon Davies, Archie Hillier-Wood  and Charlie Phillips kept the Swansea forwards at bay.
Finley Davies and Josh Smyth ran and tackled well over the whole pitch and Joel Mills supplied plenty of ball to Ollie Teagle but despite this Swansea went 2-0 up. This seemed to spur the Pembs boys on and debutant Smyth pulled a goal back with a lovely cross-shot.
In the second half the Pembs boys sensed that they could get back into the game and Davies put the ball in the back of the net after some great pressurising by Luke Thomas and Greg Hughes, who both made excellent debuts. Hughes, himself, scored the winner, to the delight of the crowd, and the boys defended solidly for the dying minutes.

 Swansea B 0 - Pembrokeshire A 2

Pembrokeshire had plenty of the game and created many chances, but it took well into the second half of the match before Greg Hughes broke the deadlock.  Thomas added a second to put the game out of reach for Swansea, crowning two very good performances by the Pembs A squad.

Pembrokeshire B

Swansea B 2 - Pembrokeshire B 4

Pembrokeshire B started solidly in their first game, matching their opposition in personal battles across the midfield with Ifan Thomas and Iwan Howells probing down the flanks and Jack Jones, Macs Page and Joe Evans driving up through middle. Oliver Powles and Iori Badham held the defence and Ferdy Stevenson- Shield showed a safe pair of hands in goal.
Jones opened the scoring for Pembs, but straight from the kick off Swansea equalised.
Pembs were determined to get back ahead and Page scored a great goal just before half-time.
Page added another and Toby Colley, on his debut, put Pembs further ahead.  The boys battled well against a determined Swansea side, who added their second just before the end of the match. This was a great team effort from a well-balanced Pembrokeshire squad.

Swansea A 6 - Pembrokeshire B 1

A very strong Swansea side soon settled into their stride and started to dominate possession, with Pembrokeshire at times struggling to string their passes together.
Despite their best efforts a tired Pembs side could not contain some very skilful opposition.
Swansea scored five goals before Evans pulled back a consolation goal.
The final score ended 6-1 to Swansea, but it didn’t take the shine off what had been a very productive day for the Pembs Squads.
