Pembroke Dock Bowling Club starts the season

Two Venerable Members of Pembroke Dock Bowling Club Pay Their Respects to The Club at The Start of The Season

The 2018 season at Pembroke Dock Bowling Club begun with the long-standing tradition of “Bowling the Silver Jack”.  On Saturday 7th April, the honour of getting the season started fell to two club members who are, respectively, serving their County and Nation in two prestigious roles.  Mrs Anne Cole will spend 2018 steering the West Wales Ladies Bowling Association (WWLBA) as its President.  Mr Gerard Thomas has been inaugurated as the 2018 President of the British Isles Bowls Council.  Gerard is the first bowler from Pembrokeshire to be invited to fill this important administrative position.

Diana Davies presents the Silver Jack to Anne Cole and Gerard Thomas, who will jointly and symbolically lay the jack and deliver two bowls.  The assembled membership of the club gave a hearty round of applause in support of both of them.

The honour of laying the “Silver Jack” and bowling the first wood fell to Anne and she did such a good job that her bowl virtually rested on the jack.

Ever the gentleman, Gerard delivered his wood to a position just a little further away than Anne’s – and the crowd went wild!
