Martin Jones, Sport Pembrokeshire’s newly-appointed Cricket Development Officer

Sport Pembrokeshire - Pembrokeshire County Council’s sports development service - has appointed Martin Jones of Neyland as its new Cricket Development Officer.
Martin is the Pembroke County Cricket Club Junior Organiser and sits on the County Cricket Club Executive, which gives him a wealth of voluntary experience to bring to his new role.

Providing great support

He has been a successful regional coach in the past, and as a result he is familiar with the regional cricket structure and the pathway from club cricket to national representative honours for boys and girls in the county.
His main role will be in supporting community cricket and co-ordinating the voluntary and professional cricket and sports providers within Pembrokeshire.

Focus on increased participation

There will be a particular focus on increasing participation, boosting the number of club teams, and raising standards of local performance from club to regional squad age groups.
He will also work closely with the South West Cricket Wales Area Manager and Area Board, Sports Development Officers, Active Young People Officers and local education representatives.
A former cricket player for Neyland Cricket Club, Martin now umpires their second team.
