Local Football league seeking additional administrators
Pembrokeshire AFL Press release
The Manderwood Timber Pembrokeshire Association Football League and the Todaro’s Hair & Beauty Junior League are currently looking to recruit new members to join the League Committee. As Micky Phillips the current League Secretary explained; "The committee are actively seeking new members to join the League Council and assist in the administration of the league. At present the rules of the Association allow the League to have eight administrative posts though these are currently being covered by only four officers with Phil Devonald doubling up as Registration Secretary and Youth Secretary, Trevor Morgans doubling up as Mini-Football Secretary and Child Welfare Officer, Brian Hawkins taking on the role of Referee's Appointments Officer, with myself fulfilling the roles of Secretary, Treasurer and Senior Fixture Secretary. In addition the League Council can consist of an additional seven League Councillors of which only five positions have been filled".
The league operates five senior divisions, five junior divisions (aged between 12 and 16) and 76 mini football teams which cover the ages of 7 to 11. Micky continued "The league structure ensures that over 2000 players are actively involved every Saturday in playing football within the County. This has a significant impact on the Pembrokeshire sporting weekend and if you add on the number of parents, supporters, coaches etc. who are also involved then the number would be significantly higher".
Micky added "The Pembrokeshire League have been extremely lucky to have had such excellent administrators over the years but it is felt that the current workload is too great to be split between just four officers. The posts that currently require filling for next season are Secretary, Senior Fixture Secretary and Youth Secretary and if anyone is interested in assisting with the administration of the league now would be a great time to get involved as the season is in full swing and working alongside the current post holders for the remainder of the season would give potential applicants a good idea of what is required in the post. Simply offering, for example, to collate the Senior and Junior results on a Saturday would be a great help and any offer of assistance would be greatly appreciated.”
Should anyone be interested in any of the posts they should in the first instance contact Micky on 07578 525882.
