Whenever we manage to catch up with Jordan Hart it seems the No 1 ladies’ badminton player in Wales is doing something different or exciting – and today is no exception because she has just taken a big step in her progress in her sport.
 
Jordan told us at PembrokeshireSport.co.uk: “Last Friday I moved to Poland to train with the Polish National Team with my coach Steve Butler, who has been appointed Head Coach of Polish badminton.

“I will train full time at the Polish National Centre in Warsaw as I begin the qualifying period for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in January.

“Lockdown in England was difficult so it’s really promising to be back training in such a professional and exciting environment.

“My next tournament is the Denmark Open which starts next week. Lots of new protocol and rules in place to make the tournament as safe as possible so really looking forward to being able to perform on the World Stage again.”
 

Brilliant in Barbados . . .

 
It is a big step to take but Jordan is very committed to her chosen sport and prior to the pandemic she had notched one of the best tournament results of her career by winning the Carebaco International event in Barbados.
 
Jordan beat Finland’s Airi Mikkela in the final in straight games (21-15 and 21-16), and has now reached a new career-high world ranking of 75.
 
She also reached the semi-finals in the mixed doubles with England’s Sam Parsons, eventually taking bronze.
 
 “It was a great week,” she told ‘PembrokeshireSport.co.uk’, and I was excited to come away champion after beating players ranked above me in the semi-final and final.



 

. . . And success nearer to home too!

 
There has also been success nearer to home because Jordan showed why she is the top player in Wales as she won Welsh Senior National Finals in Cardiff – and the Hart family showed their talent as her 17 year old sister Lowri reached the final to confirm her No 2 ranking, despite being so young.
 
“It was a hard-fought final,” said Jordan, “because she is a brilliant player.
 
“I knew it would be harder in a way because she is my little sister but I was delighted that we also won the doubles with a good win where we worked together.”

It is also worth recording the fact that Lowri is now showing her talents at Pembrokeshire College where she is studying Art and Graphic Design and showing her ability in both components of her course.
