A Haverfordwest sports ground has had a major upgrade.
 
The astro turf pitch at Sir Thomas Picton School has been refurbished thanks to Pembrokeshire Leisure - the leisure services arm of Pembrokeshire County Council.

The full size pitch, which cost just over £400,000 to upgrade, is available to a range of sports clubs and organisations as well as for school use.
“This is just the latest investment in a programme of upgrading facilities across the county,” said Councillor Elwyn Morse, cabinet Member for Sport and leisure.
“We want to encourage people to be active and one way to do that is to provide good quality facilities,” he said.
“It’s not just an investment in a facility but also in the health and fitness of our residents - in particular our youngsters.”
 

Continuing the trend

 
The Haverfordwest astro turf pitch (ATP) was last upgraded about 15 years ago and it is hoped that the new sand-dressed pitch will prove equally hard wearing.
Its upgrade follows a half a million pound investment last year in installing new floodlights at Pembroke and Milford Haven schools as well as upgrading the ATP at Pembroke.
Earlier this year the new all-weather athletics track at the Sir Thomas Picton School site was also reopened following an extensive refurbishment.
