Liam Miller and Aled Phelps (batted well for Hook)

Hook win a cracking match

Hook (129 for 1) beat Pembroke (116 all out)

Hook beat Pembroke by 13 runs in an excellent game of indoor cricket where both teams showed how they have improved after being promoted last season.

Hook batted first as built a strong tally as almost everyone chipped in after Rhys Phelps (10) had been run out early, with Liam Miller (26), Aled Phelps (26), George James (27) and Harry Makepeace (27) all reached their retirement level and joined by ‘Mr Extras’  (11) in using their ten overs well as Jack Harries (0 for 12) as the most economical in his two overs.

Harries then showed he hadn’t lost his fine form whilst on his recent holiday as his two stints at the crease saw him amass 54 runs in 27 balls (four fours and a six) - and found his regular opening support from keeper Like Butler (whose 33 in 27 balls before he was run out came without a single boundary as he ran well until that fateful moment!

But Pembroke were unable to maintain that good start as Alan Webster (4), Paul White (1) and James Tomkinson (3) all came and went to George James, whose 3 for 18 haul included a return catch to shift Harries and the others to two good Makepeace catches, with Aled Phelps (1 for 20) the other successful Hook bowler.

Sam Davies managed 14 but Pembroke were left to reflect on the fact that they had a real chance to win this match but Hook deserved every credit for sticking to the task well and being well rewarded in terms of points for their victory.

Jack Harries and Luke Butler - more runs for Pembroke openers

Dock hold on well against brave run chase by Neyland B

Pembroke Dock (129 for 3) beat Neyland B (115 for 1)

Jake Davies - runs galore for Pembroke DockSteve Murray - still in top form for Neyland BPembroke Dock batted first against Neyland B and after another game were there were runs aplenty resisted the strong challenge from Steve Murray’s boys to ease home by 14 runs.

The Dock started well again via George Smith (eventually run out for 32) and Rhys Daley (retired on 25) before Jake Davies boosted the tempo even further with his inimitable brand of stroke play.

The Dock had lost skipper Scott Griffiths (run out for 3) and Nick Daley (caught and bowled by Iestyn Miles for a duck) before Tom Grimwood batted with a skill that belied his ‘last man’ status with 26 not out and Davies ended up on 35 not out in a strong final tally.

Murray showed again what a good indoor cricketer he is with 26 runs alongside Lewis Page (27) and George Evans (25) before all three retired after Iestyn Miles (3) went early before Corey Riley (16) was not out at the finish as Dock skipper Scott Griffiths was the only wicket-taker with 1-28 as his team celebrated victory but Neyland battled hard and just need to keep a closer eye on the required run rate so they are not left stranded with five wickets in hand.

Neyland A win at a canter

Llanrhian (59 all out) lost to Neyland A (65 for 1)

Paul Murray - led Neyland A by exampleAshley Sutton - outstanding with bat and ballNeyland again showed what a top indoor league side they are as they shot out Llanrhian very cheaply and reached their target in only 4.5 overs, ending on a high note as Andrew Miller stroked a straight six.

Ross Hardy started the Llanrhian collapse as he bowled Karl Davies for a single and Richard Read (6) was run out before regular top scorer Iwan James (24) and Tom Clarke ((18) led something of a fight-back before both fell to Andrew Sutton, clean bowled as he bowled an immaculate line and length to pick up 2 for 9 in his two overs.

Hardy (2 for 11) shifted Llion Williams as keeper Paul Murray showed his stumping skills and Jack John returned to action as he bowled Rob John (2) to end up with 1 for 7 and Llanrhian were shot out with an over still unused.

Sutton (26) and Murray (25) then sped to the 50 mark in three overs and then Ross Hardy was run out without troubling the scorers before Miller (10) and John (4) made sure of an early finish as they scored the remainder of the Neyland runs!
