Harry strikes as County U13s beat their neighbours

Pembrokeshire under 13s (213 all out) beat Carmarthenshire under 13s (132 for 8) by 81 runs.

Pembrokeshire's captain Noah Davies won the toss and chose to bat at Hook Cricket Club and the county’s talented under 13 team played well to finish up victorious against their counterparts from Carmarthenshire.

Lloyd leads the batting and Noah rattles up quick runs

Harry Nicholas and Lloyd Bartlett opened the batting and Harry strikes as County U13s beat their neighboursafter getting themselves in, set about getting Pembrokeshire off to a flying start. After 15 overs the score was 82 for 0 and neither opener had given a chance. Lloyd brought up his 50 soon after, well deserved after a hard hitting performance (8 fours) but  departed for 57 in the 18th over with the score on 106, a top opening partnership. Harry Nicholas fell soon after for a well-constructed 29.

Jack Scriven (10), Jake Merry (10) and Ollie Wheeler (15) kept the scoreboard ticking over before Noah Davies came in and in six overs smashed 40 runs, which included 5 fours and some brilliant running between the wickets to push Pembrokeshire to 213 all out in the 39th over. It was a new high score for the team and a great effort all round.

Carms can’t maintain the required run rate and Harry makes them pay

Carmarthenshire's run chase started steadily if not quickly with openers Rhys Jones and Bradley Roderick bringing up a 100 partnership in the 28th over. The first wicket fell soon after with Roderick departing for a well made 52. Jones fell soon after for 33 and the run chase was already looking well out of reach with the required run rate at 10 an over.

A flurry of late wickets meant Carmarthenshire finished on 132 for 8 after their 40 overs. Jonny White (2 for 29) bowled well for Pembrokeshire as did Ollie Wheeler (0 for 12 in 7 overs) but the pick of the bowlers was Harry Nicholas whose 6 wickets for 7 runs came off just 5 overs and included a 4 wicket maiden.

This success meant two wins in a row for the Pembrokeshire under 13s and over 400 runs scored in a week before their next match is away to Carmarthenshire on July 13th.

Everyone involved with the Pembrokeshire U13s would like to thank Hook Cricket Club for being great hosts.
