Sean Hannon raises the trophy aloft

Sean Hannon (Capt)        32        Manderwood Timber Executive

Sean’s leadership skills have led him to be county captain again this campaign and he is rightly held in high regard by his team mates and across the county as a wicketkeeper/batsman who can also remove the gloves and perform as a more than useful pace bowler. This will be his sixth final and his second as skipper, with four wins on the trot, alongside six wins in the last seven seasons in the DR Morris Cup. Two sharp stumpings in the semi-final confirmed that he is in form with the gloves!

Ashley Sutton

Ashley Sutton            27        Digital Marketing Worker

Ashley showed his ability as a class batsman in the semi-final with a lightning quick 32 not out after a massive 134 not out in the Alec Colley Cup that clearly gave him some form. This will be his fifth final and he was man of the match in 2013 – and has twice been the man of the match in the Duggie Morris Cup. Ashley poses a real threat with his terrific stroke play and he is also a very good fielder as a bonus!

Nick Koomen

Nick Koomen            30        Bench Joiner

Arguably the most underrated cricketer in the county but Neyland know just what an asset he is with his magnificent stroke play backed up by the ability to bowl a short, fast spell in limited overs games that can change the momentum. Nick has played in five previous finals and was deservedly the man of the match in Neyland’s 2011 win - and will be eager to make his mark. He has just ticked over so far in this shortened campaign and he is due a big score any time soon!

Patrick Bellerby

Patrick Bellerby        28        Cargo Inspector

Patrick still stands out in this classy batting  line-up and, as Haverfordwest well know, he can change a match with his straight hitting (we remember his last-ball six to win the DR Morris Cup Final) Missed the semi-final because of work commitments but is sure to play and hope to build heavily on his46 and 26 not out in the early rounds. Played in four winning finals and he really does make batting look easy when he is on form!

Brad McDermott-Jenkins

Brad McDermott-Jenkins    28        Yard Man in Builder’s Merchants

This will be Brad’s first final for Neyland after two previous defeats in the Bowl and DR Morris Cup finals so will be anxious to make it third time lucky. He joined the club this season and now lives in the town – and he looks like being the final piece in this powerful jig-saw. He can hit the ball many a mile so is a potent threat in the middle order and his medium pace bowling is another weapon for Sean Hannon to use.

Ross Hardy

Ross Hardy       32      Mechanic

Ross is in his second season for Neyland after joining them from Kilgetty and this will be his first final so he will be eager to make an impact with both bat and ball. Another very powerful striker of the ball he belted 47 in the quarter final at Carew in double quick time – and readily admits he loves hitting sixes. He will also bowl (1 for 13 in his six overs at Carew) as proof of his economic medium pacers and could really influence matters if things go well.

Scott Jones

Scott Jones          22        Teacher

Scott has appeared in three previous finals and also had a stint as 12th man because he is a very active fielder – and will be sure to be involved in some way because he is a stylish batsman and clever spin bowler, as he proved with his 3 for 18 analysis in round one. As the youngster in the team he has learned so much over the last couple of seasons and will start his teaching career after this final.

Andrew Miller

Andrew Miller       46       Power Station Engineer

‘Windy’ is rightly regarded as the excellent captain who set Neyland on the road to such a triumphant previous decade and more and at one time earned the plaudits as the best batsman in the county with his ability to bat long and score runs. Now he plays much lower down the order, unless there is an early batting collapse, and it is his slow bowling that still makes him a key player in the team’s armoury. In four games in this competition this season his remarkably consistent figures have been 3 for 22, 3 for 25, 3 for 38 and 4 for 13!  Andrew has played in five previous finals and he was man of the match in 2009.

Nathan BannerNathan Banner        29        Carpenter

Nathan is a very capable and experienced all-rounder who has played in four finals, the first with Haverfordwest and the rest at Neyland. He is one of the quickest bowlers in the county and is sure to bowl his spells in both innings as he tries to use his pace to good effect. He has sometimes opened the innings in previous years but it is likely that he will this time be called upon in any late thrust for runs because he can hit big and change the game in a few overs.

Patrick Hannon

Patrick Hannon        32        County Council Officer

Twin brother of the skipper and a likely opening bowler in his fifth final - and someone who will bat lower down than his ability suggests because he is well known for scoring very quick late runs with his speed between the wickets and ability to despatch the loose ball to the boundary. He showed his worth to the team in the semi-final when his early onslaught shifted the four main Tish batsmen before he finished up with 4 for 13 in six miserly, but very attacking overs.

Henry Durrant

Henry Durrant        30        Financial Advisor

Unavailable for the semi-final but likely to be included for his fourth final because of the balance he provides in the middle order and especially as a clever left-arm seamer who can cause a lot of damage in the right conditions. Another very big hitter who can advance the scoreboard at a rate of knots, as he did when scoring 24 in the second round.

George Evans

George Evans          21        Fork Lift Driver

George played in the semi-final and gave 100%, as usual, for someone who can hit the ball hard and someone who takes over the gloves if Sean Hannon is needed to bowl a few overs. He has also been a good servant to the club in their successful indoor league campaigns and if selected for his first final certainly won’t let the side down!

Gregg Miller

Gregg Miller       44       Process Operator

Gregg is another who can rightly be proud of his contribution to Neyland CC because in his time as captain they appeared in three Bowl Finals, four DR Morris Finals and won two league titles with a record of seven winners medals from nine possible! Only came in for the semi-final to help out and showed why he has always been one of the best fielders (he says THE best) in the county, with a vital high catch in slippery conditions. A very good all-rounder in his own right and highly respected around the county.

Peter Davies

Peter Davies        61       Site Worker

Peter will play a key role in the final without bowling a ball or hitting a run because he is the very popular team manager who looks after the players as if they were his own boys! He does all the jobs no-one else wants, like filling out the team sheet, checking kit, collects subs and anything else they need. Known to all as ‘Jack’ because of his affiliations with Swansea, he is also a very capable first-aid man who looks after any bumps or bruises sustained in action!
