Rob Williams amongst the wickets for Lawrenny

Phil Cockburn

Phil Cockburn (St Ishmaels):

I’ll go for Lawrenny because they are the more in-form side whilst Haverfordwest have had an inconsistent season by their standards. I think Lawrenny will have learnt a lot from their DR Morris Cup Final defeat and have quality players like Steve Lewis, Rob Williams, Brad McDermott-Jenkins, Harry Thomas and Kurtis Marsh. For Haverfordwest to win they will need Doc Holliday and Adam James to be on form with the bat and ball.

James Caine

James Caine (Saundersfoot):

I think it’s very much even-stevens because both sides have players who can swing the game in their favour – but I hop Lawrenny win because it’s nice to see trophies shared about and they just missed out last season, whilst Haverfordwest have had their share over the years! Haverfordwest have their stars but I think Dai Davies could play a vital role for them – whilst Brad McDermott-Jenkins is due some big runs for Lawrenny. Ryan Morton is a talented youngster and there is quality batting from Harry Thomas and Kurtis Marsh.

Ollie Davies

Ollie Davies (Llangwm):

I think Lawrenny could be the winners because they will have learned to polish their running between the wickets and ground fielding after losing to Neyland in the Duggie Morris Cup. They have a potential match-winning skipper in Joe Kidney and more strength in depth – and are showing far greater consistency in the league as they are second in the table and comfortably winning most matches.

Sean Hannon

Sean Hannon (Neyland):

Lawrenny are the up-and coming team in the county and have already done really well to come runners-up in the league and Duggie Morris Cup – and they will want to end their season with something to show for their efforts. Haverfordwest are still strong, though, with key performers but I think the likes of Rob Williams, Brad McDermott-Jenkins and Kurtis Marsh will see Joe Kidney pick up The Bowl.

Ryan Lewis

Ryan Lewis (Cresselly):

It should be close but in the end I think Haverfordwest’s greater experience might be the telling factor. As everyone will probably say, a major factor could be the batting of ‘Doc’ Holliday because he is unlikely to fail twice and if Dai ‘Dapper’ Davies bats well he will be the ideal partner. Brad McDermott-Jenkins has bowled well for Lawrenny but not scored his usual amount of runs – and if he gets going then everything can change. Lawrenny must also improve their running between the wickets, which is not their best feature!

Toby Hayman

Toby Hayman (Burton):

I’ll back Lawrenny. They have a strong batting line up with players like Kurtis Marsh and Harry Thomas followed by others like Brad McDermott-Jenkins, Steve Lewis and others. Then there’s good bowling led by Rob Williams and Ryan Morton and they know they have to get Simon Holliday out early as a real challenge and also play real 20/20 cricket!

Gordon Thomas

Gordon Thomas (Western Telegraph Sports Editor):

I think Lawrenny will be too strong all-round because Haverfordwest are not consistent enough at the moment and relying on a few key players, which isn’t really what they would want. Brad McDermott-Jenkins, Kurtis Marsh, Harry Thomas and Ryan Morton are key all-rounders and there is an air of confidence about them that is currently lacking in The Town!

Nick Scourfield

Nick Scourfield (Carew):

My heart says Lawrenny because of my family’s association with the club but this time my head also says Lawrenny because they have developed into a very good team and are playing well with a winning habit. Their self-belief is high and everyone in the team has an important role to play, rather than relying on a few key individuals. Since Kurtis Marsh has arrived he has made a positive impact and just about completed the pieces!

Matthew Davies

Matthew Davies (Whitland):

I think it is Lawrenny’s year and they will win the Harrison-Allen Bowl! Look at the teams in a one v one manner from one to 11 and I think they are the stronger side because Haverfordwest have players yet to prove themselves at this level. Of course, there is always the ‘Doc Holliday’ factor over two innings but I’m not sure he is at full fitness and I think Dai Davies could be The Town’s key player. But overall I still think Joe Kidney will collect the trophy, with so many possible match-winners in his side!
