 Danny Potter

Danny Potter     Aged 37     Administration Manager

’Potts’ will be playing in his sixth final and his third as captain – and hoping to finish on a high note since he says this is definitely his final season at the helm. Known as a strong leader with a sound tactical approach and competitive approach, but is also a very stylish stroke-maker and former county player who can score freely, as he proved with 49 not out in an earlier round.

Ben Field

Ben Field     40     Sports Development Manager

Ben is one of the key players in the team because as well as having the ability to score big he is also vice-captain and works well with his skipper, and is currently leading the team on Saturdays. This will also be his sixth final, one of them with Hook, and he will be eager to find the form that has seen him score 86 against Cresselly alongside 56 and 74 against Burton. He has been a regular with the county team over the years and if he goes well than The Town will play well!

Simon Holliday

Simon Holliday      45     Doctor

The ‘Doc’ has had another amazing season for The Town and will be eager to finish it in style with both bat and ball. His batting average is well into three figures and in an earlier round against favourites Neyland he assured victory with 83 not out and hammered a massive 106 against Whitland in the semi-final! Simon is also a canny slow bowler and it fair to say that he is the player that Lawrenny would like to get rid of ASAP in both innings! He is also a keen captain of the Wales XL team.

Mikey Jones

Mikey Jones     29     PE Teacher

Mikey has made a welcome return to action after a long spell out with a serious injury sustained in rugby, where he has also captained Haverfordwest from his berth at outside half. He has slotted in nicely to the team’s top four in the batting order with an ability to hit straight and punish anything loose, as he did with 53 not out against Saundersfoot. This will be Mikey’s first final.

Lee Summons

Lee Summons     29     Tree Surgeon

Lee joined the club from Johnston and has settled in really well as a batsman, bowler and one of the best fielders in the side. He hails from a strong sports family and doubles up in Winter as a gritty scrum half for Haverfordwest RFC. Will certainly bat in the front five in his first final and could play a vital role with his medium pace bowling and excellent work in the field with his safe hands and strong throw.

Dai Davies

Dai Davies     35     Railway Worker

‘Dapper’ has made a welcome return to cricket and gathers big runs with his classy stroke play which finds gaps in the field alongside his super running between the wickets. He represented Wales as a leg-spin bowler at junior level but prefers now to bowl accurate medium pace when he is needed. This will be his eighth final and he is rightly regarded as one of the best out-fielders in the county with his speed across the ground, good throw and safe hands – and a very good midfield dynamo with Merlins Bridge in local football!

Adam James

Adam James     29     Plasterer

Adam has battled through injury to play in his sixth final and would be listed by most opponents as a key player in The Town’s battle plans. He is a fiery fast bowler who loves charging in to take on the opposition’s top order and his big hitting in late run chases is legendary. ‘Jamer’ grabbed two early wickets and 38 not out against Neyland, 4 for 7 in the quarter final and 3 for 18 and 38 in the semi-final – stats that show his contribution to The Town and the reason why he has sometimes opened the bowling and batting in limited over games! Another player who has represented Pembrokeshire at a range of ages.

Archie Thomas

Archie Thomas     20     Student

Archie has really made the break-through into first team cricket and in his first Bowl final will be hoping to play an all-round game. He  steams in from a long run up and took 6 for 34 against Lawrenny in a recent league match as proof of his potency. A real bonus is the fact that he is another who can score quickly if he settles in and is allowed to hit straight. Tends to focus on his cricket nowadays but has also previously played rugby and football.

Jack Scriven

Jack Scriven      18     Student

This will also be Jack’s first final and he is following in the family tradition because his father Huw was rightly regarded as one of the best keepers in the county, a county regular until recently and still playing for the club’s second team. Jack has had a pair of gloves for as long as he can remember and claimed his first team slot after a good apprenticeship with the juniors and seconds – and as well as growing in confidence he is also keen to further develop his batting skills!

Clive Tucker

Clive Tucker     47     Parts Manager

‘Tucks’ is very much the veteran of the team now, with over 30 years involvement – and has become a fixture again in the first team after a number of years trundling his slow stuff for the second XI. This will be his tenth final, with five wins so far – and he was chosen as man of the match in 1998 against Lamphey. Still bowling as well as ever, his figures of 1 for 7, 2 for 34, 2 for 17 and 2 for 2-18 demonstrate his ability to keep things tight as well as taking key wickets. A long-serving county representative and great club man.

Ashley James

Ashley James     24     Apprentice Plater

Like his older brother Adam he could feature in his first final as a fast bowler and useful big hitter who loves his cricket and happy to help out wherever needed as a great club man. Claimed 2-15 in the first round and 1 for 18 in the quarter final with his fielding being another plus alongside his ability to hit some of the biggest sixes on The Racecourse this season. ‘Ash’ also plays rugby for Llangwm and is a very powerful back-row runner!

Nikhil Mathias

Nikhil Mathias     18     Student

Nikhil has just returned from his education away and after a couple of good knocks (including 73 v Whitland), finds himself in with a chance of selection for his first Bowl final after previously representing The Town at Ormond Youth level. He is a talented right-hand batsman who plays with an assurance way beyond his years – and if he is selected will be an asset in the field with his good eye for a catch and ability to throw in well from the deep!’

Jake Merry

Jake Merry     18     Apprentice process worker

Jake started off the season as a first team regular but was side-lined by injury and so missed some of the season where his batting skills have been missed alongside his ability to field well – but he is now back in action and hoping to play in his first final. He is also a very good Welsh League full back, playing for Haverfordwest County, and he has represented the Welsh Schools – and is already looking forward to another good season at the Bridge Meadow Stadium

Huw Scriven

Huw Scriven     46     Process Operator

Huw has played in 13 Harrison-Allen Bowl Finals and was a county regular with his wicket-keeping ability taking him to be one of the top three glove men in the county for a long time. With work commitments and injury he decided to step down from first-team action after such great service but still turns out when he can for the seconds – or helps as team manager for the first XI, where he can put his vast experience to good use with the youngsters in the side, who include son Jack behind the stumps.
