Euan Dyer, of Pembroke County Hockey Club, has represented Wales in six Under 16 international test matches this season and although this is Euan’s second year with the Wales U16 team, and he is still eligible next year.

The first three tests were against Scotland in Glasgow during the Easter weekend at the impressive Scottish National Hockey Centre, a legacy of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. 
 

Wales just missed out over three matches against the Scots . . .

Wales lost the first match of the series 5-1, although Wales’ goal came from a surging run by Euan which forced a penalty stroke before the second match was a tense affair which Wales won 1-0. 

Dyer was particularly impressive in both defence and attack, winning the acclaim of the enthusiastic Welsh supporters and the third match was the best of the three, although Scotland’s winning margin of 6-2 didn’t reflect how closely contested the game had been.

. . . But won the test series against Ulster

The second three match test series was against Ulster in Belfast recently, and Wales showed the excellent progress they have made.  The first game ended in a 2-2 draw, as Euan was credited with an assist for one of the goals.  Wales then produced powerful displays to win the remaining matches 3-1 and 4-1. 

Euan was honoured to be made captain for the third match and he is now looking forward to earning selection for the Futures Cup in August; England Hockey’s flagship GB regional competition.
