Haverfordwest County scoring sensation Danny Williams has signed a professional contract for Premier League outfit Cardiff City.

Before Christmas the 19 year old had played a number of trial games behind closed doors before Cardiff City decided to take a chance on the Welsh League star, and the Bluebirds have gone ahead and paid an undisclosed figure to Haverfordwest County for his services.

Williams has played a couple of seasons for the Welsh League Division One outfit, but he played his last game for Haverfordwest County last Saturday when they lost in extra time at home against Bala Town in the Welsh Cup.

Williams is currently Haverfordwest County’s top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions this season.
After being released by Swansea City the talented youngster also played and captained the Welsh Colleges at 18 and 19 levels.

He also formed a deadly partnership with Lee Trundle at the start of the season, but now both top notch players have left the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium for pastures new.

The club have released a statement:

“Haverfordwest County AFC can today confirm that Danny Williams has agreed to sign a professional contract to join Cardiff City FC for an undisclosed fee.

“Whilst we are extremely disappointed to lose a player of such quality, it was inevitable that Danny would move on within the game and the Board of Directors and Management Team have always expressed that they would never stand in the way of a player pursuing a career at a higher level.

“We would like to thank Danny for his time here and wish him every success for the future as a professional footballer with his new Premier League Club.”
