When the Welsh Schools’ Under 18s team recently took on the Welsh Colleges Under 19s at the excellent facilities at the Cardiff Metropolitan University there were three players from the Haverfordwest County first team squad, with two of them honoured with the respective captaincies.

Central defender Alaric Jones led the Schools’ team whilst striker Ben Fawcett was skipper of the Colleges’ team – and also playing for the schools’ side was Jack Wilson.

Played on a 4G pitch there was plenty of parental support, something that has always typified the careers of all three players, and after an excellent game of football it was Alaric Jones’ schools’ team that came out comfortable winners by 4-1.

Terrific experience for three really good players

All three young players had really good games and are sure to feature again this season, which terrifically enhances their experience as in between all three are regularly playing for The Bluebirds on a regular basis.

“We are very proud of their progress after moving up through our academy with Steve Batty,” said Haverfordwest County manager Wayne Jones, “and it is certainly paying off because they are already playing key roles in our senior squad.”
