Haverfordwest County 2 – Ton Pentre 1

Haverfordwest County came from behind to secure an important league victory against Ton Pentre at the Conygar Bridge Meadow.

Dan Evans scored The Bluebirds winnerLeon Jack scored early with a wonder goal but The Bluebirds levelled matters through Greg Walters and then Dan Williams added a second to give the homesters a slender 2-1 cushion at half time.

Incredibly there were no further goals in the second half with both teams trying to add to their goals tally.

This win sees The Bluebirds move two points clear of second placed Goytre at the top of the table, but the latter have a game in hand.

Rocket shot

The Bull Dogs opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Jack unleashed a 30-yard rocket.

This goal stunned the home outfit, but on the 20 minute mark The Bluebirds equalised. The goal stemmed from a free kick inside the box as Walters reacted quickest to drive in from eight yards out.

Ten minutes later and Haverforfordwest County took the lead, as brilliant work from Steffan Williams saw the midfielder win the ball and cross for Dan Williams, who finished clinically from six yards.

Missed chances

The second half started frantically as Steff Williams was denied by an excellent stop from Stephen Hall, and Walters could have added his second of the match, but Dan Williams’ cross across the face of the box came too quickly for the striker to adjust his feet.

There were no further scares as The Bluebirds secured another three precious points to return to the top of the table.
