Bluebirds and Accies create friendly history

Friendly football

Scottish League One outfit Hamilton Academicals won 4-0 in an historical first clash against Cymru Premier Haverfordwest County at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium.

The Accies dubbed this friendly as the ‘Rob Edwards derby’ as he has an influence at both camps.

In an even first half the visitors finally broke the deadlock six minutes before the break when Dom Thomas’ clinical edge of the area shot found the back of the net.

A few minutes later The Accies added a fortuitous second when Cammy Blues’ shot took a wicked deflection.

After the break the Bluebirds looked lively and were unlucky not to score as a wicked shot by striker Ben Ahmun which was parried by goalkeeper Dean Lyness. Minutes later Rhys Abruzzese’s cross from the left side caused further problems inside the Accies box.

Both sides made a host of changes in the second period, ensuring their squads got valuable minutes as they prepare for the upcoming season.

County’s Iori Humphries cut in from the left and let fly only for the ball to go straight in the grateful hands of Lyness.

Late in the second period Kyle Macdonald turned home the third before Thomas grabbed his second for his side’s fourth with a neat near post finish.
