Haverfordwest County 1 – Cwmbran Celtic 1

Haverfordwest County came from a goal behind to secure a draw with Cwmbran Celtic at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium.

The home outfit will be disappointed to draw in their first league appearance of the season at home, and the Bluebirds camp felt this result was two points dropped and not a point gained.

Bull on target

The visitors opened the scoring on the 20 minute mark, some poor marking in the Bluebirds’ box, enabled striker Josh Bull to slot home past Conah McFenton.

For the remainder of the first period it was Haverfordwest County who dominated territory and possession, but were guilty of missing some glorious goal scoring chances to level matters.

Skipper Sean Pemberton rose highest in the box and headed against the crossbar, Steffan Williams also hit the bar, with a wicked shot from the edge of the 18-yard area.

The Bluebirds finally equalised when Sam Rodon’s long ball from inside his own half caught out Lewis Watkins, the visitor’s goalkeeper tipping the effort onto the crossbar and Dan Williams reacting fastest to tap-in from close range. It was a rather fitting goal for Williams, who today celebrated his 18th birthday!

The homesters pressed hard for a winner, but couldn’t quite find the back of the net, with a couple of gilt-edged chances not taken, and they will have to be content with a point, which sees them unbeaten from two starts in the division.
