Bench and cheque presentation at the Obs in memory of Mr Hakin

Alan Roach jnr hands over a £1,000 cheque to Withybush General Hospital nurse Leanne

Alan RoachThe name of Alan Roach will forever be synonymous with Hakin United Football Club as he was also an active member of the United Sports Tote.

There was a fitting memorial tribute held at the club on Saturday, 8th January, where a bench with a named gold plate has been placed inside the Vikings’ ground in recognition of the late loyal man’s immense contribution and outstanding work for Hakin United - plus his invaluable help to run and organise the United Sports Tote.

His son, also named after his late father, Alan Roach Jnr, was delighted to be present at the unveiling of the bench - and he spoke eloquently before the gathering, and it will now take  pride and place at his beloved Observatory Ground.

Alan died in 2019, but he will never be forgotten at the home of the Vikings, where he had played, acted as a linesman, served in important roles as secretary and chairman, plus various other positions for the club’s committee for more than half of a century.
