St Davids started their new campaign with their opening match against the 'Man-Up UK' team organised by Fintan Godkin, Carwyn Richards and television pundit Sean Holley, who was there to cheer their team on to victory as they outscored The Saints by ten tries to three.
 
Running rugby was very much the order of a perfect evening as a good crowd saw the strong-running backs from 'Man-Up UK' race into an early ten-point lead from unconverted tries by talented centres Scott James and Scott Candler.
 

Saints attack in vain and concede breakaway tries

 
The Saints went close in the bottom corner via Noel Lyons, Fraser Watson and skipper Rhys 'Lossin' Price but the opposition broke out from their own line for Mauritz Neumann to score under the posts before Dylan Davies added the extra points with a drop-kicked conversion.
 
Luke Brooks, Eirian Harries. Dan Murphy and Gethin Bateman helped put The Saints on the attack again but again the ball was turned over by Luke Freebury and Harvey Godkin so that 'Man-Up UK' were able to counter-attack and it was Neumann who crashed over for his second try to give his team a 22-0 interval lead.

Tries galore in second half

 
The Saints deserve every credit for keeping the game open, despite playing into a strong second-half breeze - and they were rewarded with excellent tries by Luke Brooks, Chris Jenkins and Rhys Evans.
 
But 'Man-Up UK' continued to hold the edge and Neumann powered over for his hat-trick score alongside others from  Sean Morgan, Candler, Dylan Thomas, Mike Jenkins and Mike Ryan to complete an excellent tussle which was thoroughly enjoyed by an appreciative audience!
