Holywell too hot for Hakin in Welsh Cup
FAW Welsh Cup Round 3
Hakin United 1 – Holywell Town 5

North Wales classy outfit Holywell Town gained a comfortable Welsh Cup victory over the underdogs Hakin United in front of a decent crowd at the Obs.
This season, the Wellmen who currently sit second in the Cymru North table, have only lost twice in 13 league matches. The visitors’ quality and composure ensured they were always in control of matters.
So, this eagerly awaited cup clash turned out to be just a step too far for the Vikings as they slipped out of the competition, but Scott Davies’ team despite the disappointing exit can hold their heads up high following earlier impressive victories against teams such as Penlan, Cwmamman United and JD Cymru South pair Afan Lido and Taffs Well to reach the third round.
The visitors led 3-0 at half time as the lively David Forbes opened the scoring, Daniel Sullivan added the second and Forbes (his second of the tie) grabbed the third on the stroke of half time.
Hakin manager Scott Davies made three changes at the interval, on came Ashley Bevan, Ryan Wilson, and Brennan Devonald.
Hakin made a positive start as Bevan made an immediate impact as he flashed a shot from the edge of the box over the crossbar, Bevan also drilled in a low cross that keeper Mitchell Jones parried as Woodrow looked odds on to score as he lurked with intent.
In the 74
th minute the Vikings finally pulled one back as Woodrow benefitted from a neat Jack Britton assist.
The Wellmen finished strongly as substitutes Mark Winslade and Oliver Buckley both found the back of the net to ensure they headed back to North Wales in the knowledge of safely reaching the last sixteen.
