This hosts are unbeaten in five outings with Bluebirds’ manager Nicky Hayen confessing afterwards he was happy his side got a draw against quality opposition.

Scoring chances were limited as both teams cancelled each other out. The Nomads shaded it with possession, but they failed to find a way past the excellent home defence plus keeper Lee Idzi was delighted to keep a clean sheet.

Early on Alhagi Touray Sisay had the ball taken off his head by Nomads’ keeper Oliver Byrne from a teasing cross by Danny Williams.

Williams later tried to lob Byrne, but his attempt went well wide of target. A long ball fell to Medes inside the box, but his shot didn’t trouble Idzi.

Point blank range

In the 32nd minute the home outfit created a decent chance, Ben Fawcett neatly flicked on to Jazz Richards, the latter played the ball to Touray Sisay, but Byrne pulled off a brilliant save from point blank range to deny the Spaniard.

Nomads’ defender John Disney blazed a shot high and wide as the interval approached.

Five minutes after the break Touray-Sisay got on end of long throw-in and laid it off to Fawcett whose clean goal bound shot was brilliantly denied by a reflex save from Byrne. A minute later Touray Sisay struck a vicious volley just over the crossbar.

Byron Harrison nodded Kris Owens’ free kick inches wide, minutes later Idzi palmed away the ball to deny Mendes getting on the end of it.

Byrne got down low to his left to deny a stinging low drive by Kurtis Rees, which was the last of the goalmouth action as both teams had to settle for a point.

What they said…

Haverfordwest County manager Nicky Hayen said shortly after the final whistle: "I'm pleased, especially with the way we stood physically in the game because they have a lot of physicality. We didn't play our best football, but I'm happy with a point."

Bluebirds’ chairman Rob Edwards Tweeted: “Was a battle as expected against the Champions, so had to show a different side to our game, and we were up for it. A fair result although we had some great chances. Would have taken that though, and now up to 7th. Ours to lose it now. Proud.”
