Gregg Miller

Gregg Miller

39 - Cargo Inspector

Captain

Gregg is an excellent leader of the team who seems to inspire his team-mates in the field and as an opening bat capable of getting them off to a good start with his stroke play. This will be his fourth final and his second as skipper – the previous one as a winner who starred on television as a bonus. Neyland through and through, he has done well to recover from a broken leg whilst playing for the local rugby club!

Nathan Banner

Nathan Banner

23 - Bricklaying Apprentice

Joined Neyland after previous spells at Herbrandston and Haverfordwest, where he played in the final – and lost to Neyland! Now rightly regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the county and will use his pace to good effect as he opens the bowling, and his big-hitting will see him trying to give his team a good start. Also won lots of silverware as a centre half with Hakin United in local football.

Ashley Sutton

Ashley Sutton

22 - Salesman

Ashley plays a key role with his powerhouse batting and ability to field well, as he showed in the semi-final with his fine 73 not out. He was man of the match at this year’s Duggie Morris Cup Final, as he was last season, and Neyland will be looking for big runs from an all-round sportsman who has also played Welsh Championship rugby with Narberth.

Nick Kooman

Nick Koomen

25 - Factory Worker

Another key all-rounder in the team with his ability to bowl his overs well and score runs at a fast pace, qualities which have already seen him win a man of the match award in a previous Bowl final, and also stand in as emergency wicket-keeper, if required. He has appeared in several finals and played at centre half for Neyland FC in last season’s appearance in the Senior Cup Final.
Andrew Miller

Andrew Miller

41 - Commercial Engineer

One of the most respected cricketers in the county who captained the team for 12 years before handing over the reins to his brother Gregg, and now playing in his fourth final. ‘Windy’ has two winners’ medals, and a man of the match award as a stylish batsman and canny slow bowler who can cause real problems to any opposing batting order. He can also be proud of the fact that he was man of the match at two DR Morris Cup Finals and a county regular, and is someone who also played for Pembroke County for a number of years in hockey

Henry Durrant

Henry Durrant

25 - Estate Agent

Henry is another very useful all-rounder whose left-arm over the wicket deliveries can cause problems to any batsmen as he proved in the recent DR Morris Final where he claimed four wickets – and also showed his power hitting with vital cameos in both innings. Equally effective as an opening bat and provides real options for his skipper – and another who played football for Neyland AFC in last season’s Senior Cup Final.

Sean Hannon

Sean Hannon

27 - Manderwood Key Worker

Sean is the team’s vice captain, playing in his fourth final, and an adept motivator in his role behind the stumps, where he is one of the best wicket-keepers in the county and has represented Pembrokeshire. He is also an under-rated batsman, with his ability to score key runs, especially when the chips are down. He skippers the club’s hugely-successful indoor league team, does a great job as a club coach to the club’s under 19s, and another who played for the Nomads in the Senior Cup Final last season.

Patrick Bellerby

Patrick Bellerby

23 - Shipping Agent

Another who can bat and bowl if needed, Patrick has developed into a very useful all-rounder who can gain deceptive lift with his right-arm seamers and grab quick runs, as evidenced by his last-ball six to win last season’s Duggie Morris Cup Final. He could also stake a claim as one of the best fielders who takes sharp catches, using the hand/eye co-ordination that has marked him as a very good rugby player with Neyland.

Johnty Bennett

Jonty Bennett

26 - Roofer

Jonty joined the club from Herbrandston and has settled in really well with his strong batting and athletic fielding. He can bat anywhere in the line-up but usually comes in when late runs are needed quickly. This will be his first final but his trophy is already well-stocked with silverware from his other sporting love of football, where he has played for the successful Hakin United side.

Patrick Hannon

Patrick Hannon

27 - Retail Manager

The second of the Hannon twins and like his brother plays a key role, although work commitments have prevented him from being ever-present this season. He uses his ability to swing the ball late in his role as an opening bowler and can score late runs when called upon. This will be his fourth final and yet another Neyland cricketer who played for the town’s football team in the Senior Cup last season.

Scott Jones

Scott Jones

17 - Student

The youngster in the team and as well as his ability as a stylish batsman who can bowl his canny slow stuff he is another staking a claim as top fielder after his superb performance in the DR Morris Cup, where he took some stunning catches and effected three run outs. He is an excellent sporting all-rounder and after two previous finals as 12 th man will be looking to do well for Neyland on a ‘third time lucky’ basis.

Gary Lloyd

Gary Lloyd

52 - Shipwright

Gary might be easily the oldest in the team but still plays a vital role as the spin bowler in the team who regularly opens the attack in limited overs and able to use his vast experience to good effect. Is the team’s resident No 11 but after his first-ball boundary in the DR Morris Cup Final might again suggest he should be promoted. ‘Gaj’ was also a more than useful footballer in his younger days and still one of the most respected cricketers in the county.

Luke Ryan

Luke Ryan

20 - Utility Services Worker

Luke kept wicket in the semi-final and did himself proud with neat performance and an excellent stumping that showed he is certainly one to watch in the future.

Geraint Rees

Geraint Rees

15 - Student

Another who played in the semi-final and was excellent in the field – and clearly a class all-rounder for the club in future years – and could earn the 12 th man tag for the final because of his fielding prowess.

Peter Davies

Peter Davies

50-ish - Van Hire Driver

Physio

Known to all as ‘Swansea Jack’ at the club, Peter has found his niche in the match-day set-up as physio, self-appointed team manager and general dogsbody who does a great job. Was a terrific rugby player and organiser in his day and played cricket for Neyland 2nds for a while – but now a nice part of the team ethos!
