Mother and daughter shine in gymnastics and cycling

At the recent West Wales area gymnastic competition for tumble and vault for children aged 5, 6 and 7, held at the City of Swansea Gymnastic Club,  Tia Lucie Williams from Burton, who attends Llanelli Gymnastics Club was recently crowned West Wales champion in the six year old category.

Tia who attends Mount Airey School in Haverfordwest attends Llanelli Gymnastics Club three times a week and her hard work clearly paid off when she came first in the tumble and a second in the vault, narrowly missing out on first place by 0.1 of a mark.

However her combined efforts saw Tia eventually crowned overall champion for West Wales in the six year old category, which was a tremendous achievement for the local girl.

Tia is now training hard for her next competition later in the year and will hope to emulate her recent achievements and continue her development in the sport.

This win was all the more pleasing for her mother Paula, who missed out on watching her daughter's win as she was partaking in the Carten 100 cycling challenge from Cardiff to Tenby. This left husband Andrew, the well-known St Ishmaels cricketer, to support Tia in the gymnastics.

Paula, who has previously ran the London Marathon, took up the challenge of the Carten 100 to raise money for the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital. She completed the extended route cycling 108 miles in nine and a half hours.

Paula would like to thank her friends and family who sponsored her and also NEXT retail who donated £500 toward her efforts, which was on top of the contributions raised by friends and family.
