Girls Rugby - Haverfordwest Eagles U12s have been flying high in first season

The girls and coaches celebrate success in the Bognor Regis Leicester Tigers Challenge

Girls’ Rugby News:

Coaches Richard and Josh, plus team manager KellyCaptain Cyra and vice-captain AlayaHaverfordwest Eagles have been flying very high in their first season of under 12s girls’ rugby, and remarkably,  over half of them had never picked up a rugby ball before they joined the team!

They are a combination of year six and year seven pupils who travel from as far afield as St Marks Primary School, Caer Elen Haverfordwest High VC School, Milford Haven Comprehensive School and Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi

They almost instantly formed a strong bond which projected onto the pitch, where they pulled together all season, working hard and flying together as a team.

They  took part in the Bognor Regis Butlins, Leicester Tigers Challenge, for their early-season rugby tour and came away champions, winning all five of their games.

And on Friday 22nd May they had their Scarlets Cup Final at Parc y Scarlets against a strong Merched Mynydd Mawr team, where Haverfordwest Eagles became champions with a score of 26 - 17.

They have worked relentlessly all season to achieve what they have under such incredible coaches who have equipped them with a sound knowledge of the sport, kept momentum going and team spirit alive.

These girls really are a true inspiration to others who play or may want to play girls rugby! The future for girls/women’s rugby is looking very positive with such commitment and determination to build high skill levels!
