JD Cymru Premier:
Connah’s Quay Nomads 1 - Haverfordwest County 0
Haverfordwest County slipped to a slender defeat at the hands of Connah’s Quay Nomads at the Deeside Stadium.
In the 56
th minute Harry Franklin grabbed the decisive winner, Tony Pennock’s Bluebirds put up a decent showing creating some decent chances, but they will be bitterly disappointed they came away with nothing.
Nomads’ manager Neil Gibson was delighted his team picked up their fourth successive win in four days to move second in the table whilst the Bluebirds slipped down one place to eighth.
The visitors tested keeper Andy Firth early as Ivan Watkins, making his first full start in Bluebirds’ line-up, combined with 16-year-old Harri John, the striker saw his curled effort palmed away.
In the 18
th minute Jack Wilson skipped past Ben Nash, but he looped his effort over the crossbar.
In the 54
th minute Jordan Davies’ shot took a deflection and looped over the bar.
Two minutes later The Nomads break the deadlock when Franklin buried his effort from close range.
On the hour mark Elliott Dugan made his Bluebirds’ debut as he replaced Watkins up front, minutes later Ryan George came on for Harri John.
In the 88
th minute the visitors were unlucky not to level matters as Patten’s firm header was tipped over the crossbar by Firth.
