Evans grabs late winner for league leaders Narberth in Tenby

Tony Evans’ late strike earned Narberth a slender 1-0 victory over Tenby as they stay three points clear at the top of the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division.

Substitute Evans who was dropped to the bench after scoring two goals at Johnston last week, proved to his boss Matthew Price that he should be in the starting line-up after scoring the winner on Saturday, and that was the young striker’s fourth goal for the Bluebirds.

Nicky Woodrow claimed a hat-trick in Johnston’s first win over St Clears at home; it finished 6-0 to The Tigers with Steven Dockerty, Adam Hawkins and Steve Mills also bagging goals.

Champions Hakin United won 2-0 at home against Neyland. This proved a hard three points for the Vikings who had defender Matthew Broome sent off. But down to ten-men Justin Harding and Jonty Bennett grabbed the all-important goals to seal the Vikings’ third win and they have a game in hand over the leaders.

Monkton Swifts drew 2-2 at home against West Dragons. Blake James and Daniel Scourfield netted that gave the Swifts a two-goal cushion, but the Dragons hit back with goals from Bradley Barrett and Johnny Horgan to pinch a point.

Merlins Bridge convincingly thrashed St Ishmaels 9-1 on The Racecourse. Stephen McNabney (3), Dai Davies, Peter Thomas (pen), Simon Thomas, Rob Shipton and Dai Rees netted for the Wizards, whilst Jack Palmer scored a consolation penalty for poor Tish.

Goodwick United gained a narrow 3-2 victory at Pennar Robins. Scott Crawford (2) and Rhys Dalling netted for the visitors, whilst Phil Thompson and Phil John replied for the visitors.

Saundersfoot Sports picked up their second win of the season with a 4-1 victory at home to Hundleton. Callum Grear (2), Chris Milward and Dan Storer netted for the Sports and Lloyd Wilson grabbed a late consolation goal for the visitors.
