Airbus UK Broughton 1 – Haverfordwest County 4

Jordan Davies - scored twice for Haverfordwest County at AirbusHaverfordwest County gained a comfortable victory against rock-bottom Airbus UK Broughton after a clinical second half display at The Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

Haverfordwest County manager Tony Pennock, safe in the knowledge they had already won the Play Off Conference before this last game of the season against the Wingmakers, made five changes to the team that drew 1-1 against Aberystwyth Town at home last week.

In came Ricky Watts, who wore the captain’s armband, alongside  Harri John, Jack Wilson, Iori Humphreys and Henry Jones. Five minutes from the end academy products John Chesters, Lucas Davies and Seth Woodhouse were all handed their senior debuts.

This was the Bluebirds’ fourteenth win of the campaign, which is the most they’ve won since their return to the top  flight, also the most points.

The visitors got off to a dream start as Jordan Davies opened the scoring in the fourth minute following a goalmouth scramble.

Wingmakers’ keeper Lewis Dutton made a routine save to deny Davies from inside the box, but minutes later a lapse in concentratio by Haverfordwen led to a goal by Jake Eyre, who made no mistake from inside the 18 yard area.

Level at the break

Harri John tried his luck with a low drive which Dutton saved, as the score read 1-1 at half time.

Three minutes after the interval the visitors got their noses in front with a delightfully well-worked goal,as Harri John threaded a perfectly-weighted pass to danger man Davies, before the striker ran clear to confidently fire past Dutton.

In the 55th minute the Bluebirds added their third, as Oscar Borg’s cross in the box was squared by Jack Leahy to Jack Wilson, who struck a left-footed curler into the far corner, for an excellent team goal.

Ricky Watts - wore the captains armbandHenry adds fourth goal

The industrious Henry Jones added the fourth, when poor defending by the Wingmakers allowed the midfielder to take full advantage to complete the scoring. Late in the match Bluebirds’ substitute Elliott Duggan fired a vicious effort over the crossbar.

Next up for the Bluebirds is a European play-off clash with opponents and date to be confirmed shortly.

Before kick off there was a minute’s silence of the passing of Haverfordwest County chairman Rob Edwards’ mother on Thursday.

Shortly after the final whistle Edwards Tweeted: “Finishing with a back three of Lucas Davies, Iori Humphreys and Seth Woodhouse, with John Chesters behind them makes me very proud. A credit to our coaches across the club.”

Manager Tony Pennock Tweeted: "Been some tough times this season. However, without the collective hard work of our board, our staff, players, Academy & supporters this wouldn’t have happened." T.E.A.M  @HaverfordwestFC  @HCAFCAcademy .
