Word Cup Quarter Final

The New Saints 3 – Haverfordwest County 1

As expected the cup holders The New Saints are safely through to the semi finals after humbling Haverfordwest County 3-1 at Park Hall on Tuesday night.

The Bluebirds travelled up to Oswestry, North Wales, with a tough tie on their hands, and Wayne Jones’ outfit fell behind with barely five minutes on the clock, Greg Draper slotting past Scott James.

Territorially the homesters were on top but they failed to add to their tally, but still led by the one goal at half time.

Five minutes after the interval and TNS extended their lead when Scott Quigley slotted home from inside the box.

Full credit to the Bluebirds they didn’t throw in the towel and were awarded a penalty five minutes later that Luke Borrelli buried.

Eleven minutes from the end Draper added his second goal of the tie and to seal victory and place in the last four of the competition.

The New Saints have drawn Carmarthen Town at home in the semi final and Denbigh Town have home advantage against Gap Connah’s Quay, those ties will be played on Tuesday 17th November.

Haverfordwest County: Craig Morris; Greg Walters; Spencer Williams; Sean Pemberton; Sam Rodon (Captain); Keiran Howard; Luke Borrelli Glen Feitini; Jordan Follows; Declan Carroll; Steffan Williams. Substitutes: Jack Christopher; Alfie Stotter; Aidan Rainbow.
