Pontypridd United 3 – Haverfordwest County 2

 
Pontypridd United won a five-goal thriller against Haverfordwest County as captain Clayton Green dramatically struck a 96^th minute winner at USW Sport Park, on Boxing Day.
 
With the game locked at 2-2 it looked as if it would finish in a draw until Green slotted home left footed from outside the box following a howler from  Bluebirds’ keeper Lee Idzi’s whose poor clearance fell to the Dragons’ skipper to steal the points right at the death.
 
Following this result the Dragons remain second from bottom whilst the Bluebirds are seventh and will surely miss out on a coveted top six finish as they are currently five points behind sixth placed Penybont who have two games in hand.
 

Wilson strikes early

 
The visitors took the lead in the eleventh minute as a half-cleared corner fell to Abbruzzese who put it back in the box for Lee Jenkins to header on into the path of unmarked Jack Wilson at the far post who drilled his effort into the far corner.
 
The Dragons hit back with two quick fire goals, in the 34^th minute Jordan Knott’s well flighted free kick from half way was headed on by Ben Ahmun into the path of Joe Evans who struck a beautiful rising shot past Idzi.
 
Minutes later centre back David Vincent beat Idzi at a corner with a header to give the Dragons a slender 2-1 interval lead.
 

Jordan is spot-on

 
In the 73^rd minute the Bluebirds levelled matters when they were awarded a penalty that Jordan Davies comfortably beat keeper Ash Morris diving to his right.
 
But Tony Pennock’s men suffered stoppage time heartbreak as Idzi’s mistake led to Green striking the winner.
 
On New Year’s Eve Haverfordwest County entertain Pontypridd Town at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium.
