Scorers: Nicola Murray (Pembroke Dock), Phil Kirkby (Haverfordwest), Ashley Sutton and Sam Dolling

Pembroke Dock showed how useful experience can be in indoor cricket as they took on Haverfordwest ‘B’ and St Ishmaels, making their league debuts, and came away with two victories, something they have never achieved before.

Haverfordwest’s cause certainly wasn’t helped by the fact that they conceded 37 extras (21 of them wides) as they lost to The Dock, whilst Tish used the wrong batting order against The Dock and played out no fewer than 27 balls from which they didn’t manage to score a single run.

Match One: Haverfordwest ‘B’ v Pembroke Dock

Dock do well with two big wins
Sean Williams and Josh Hicks led The Town to a reasonable score, with Hicks top scoring on 27 not out as John Camani and Scott Griffiths were the pick of The Dock bowlers.

But all of the Haverfordwest bowlers seemed to lose their bearings when they bowled so that as well as conceding 21 wides they also gave away eight leg byes and eight no balls!

Scott Griffiths dropped anchor in his opening role and found support from Luke Murray as they reached their target with 11 balls still in hand.

Haverfordwest ‘B’ then batted poorly against St Ishmaels as they were shot out for 58 Dock do well with two big winsruns, despite a useful knock from Avron Roulstone (18) and double figures by Sean Williams and James Morris.

Kevin L Bowen (1 for 4), Jordan Milich ( (2 for 19) and Ian Hawkins (2 for 11) were the Tish wicket-takers before Johnnie Pawlett and Dan Howells smashed their side to victory in only six overs.

Pawlett had two sixes and two fours, his second six taking his team home in style and scored 30 not out whilst Howells supported well with 24 not out.

Match Three: St Ishmaels v Pembroke Dock

St Ishmaels were asked to bat first and although Johnnie Pawlett belted an undefeated 36 (two sixes and three fours) there were far too many barren overs until Dan Howells came in at last man and struck a speedy 25 that also included two sixes.

But a target of 83 wasn’t a challenging one for The Dock once Luke Murray struck 28 and retired before Scott Griffiths (22 not out) and Jamie White (24 not out) finished matters off in only 6.4 of their allotted ten overs.
