Five star Lewis shoots out Carew

Carew 2nds (86 all out) lost to Cresselly 2nds (89 for 4) by 6 wickets

Umpires: Glyn Pawlett & Dai Morris
Scorers: Des Brace & Matthew Lewis

Matthew Lewis took 5-23 to help Cresselly Seconds to a comfortable away win against their Carew counterparts.

Lewis tormented the home side, who could only labour to 86 all out despite 36 from Luke Hicks (three fours and a six).

Jonathan Harris (11) was the only other batsman in double figures as Lewis was joined by Tommy Arthur (2-13), Sam Harts (2-37) and Steve Thomas (1-13) in keeping the visitors on top.

Rhydian Rees (three fours and a six in his 21) top scored in the Cresselly reply, and there were also contributions from Scott Arthur (13), Neil Williams (16), Alex Bailey (14 not out) and Steve Thomas (16 not out) as they eased home with room to spare.

Luke (2-13) and Dom Hicks (1-16), plus Joel Reed (1-28) took wickets in vain for Carew.

Avron on form to blow away Burton

Haverfordwest 2nds (75 for 2) beat Burton (73 all out) by 8 wickets

Scorers: Natalie Thomas & Ros Phillips

Avron Roulstone and Kashif Ijaz starred as Haverfordwest Seconds produced a dominant display against Burton.

Roulstone claimed 6-22 to put his side in control – with only Will Ridge (15), Robert Griffiths (22) and Iestyn Evans (10) threatening to get going with the bat.

And the big South African was backed up by Nigel Morgan (3-6) and Simon Williams (1-6), as the visitors were shot out for 73.

Burton did then give themselves an early glimmer of hope when James Davies (2-26) removed Town opener Jonathan Strawbridge for a duck, but Ijaz hit seven fours and three sixes in a brisk 48, while Josh Hicks chipped in with 10 as Haverfordwest sped to victory in 11.4 overs.

Connelly cuts loose in Llechryd win

Hook (115 all out) lost to Llechryd (162 for 8) by 47 runs

Umpires: John Williams & Tony Scourfield
Scorers: Chris Holder

An innings of 71 from Richard Connelly proved the difference as Llechryd registered a good win at Hook.
The visitors made 162-8 after being put into bat, with Connelly leading the way with eight fours and three sixes.
Michael Carter supported with 26, while Dai Hopkins (2-36) and Aled Phelps (1-20) were the pick of the Hook bowlers.

But only Jake Wicks (five fours in his 29) and Brennan Lay (15) got going in their reply, as they fell to 115 all out against the bowling of John Curran (2-17), Pete Betterley (3-17) and Graham Keen (3-38).

Mills boys on fire but Whitland hang on

Johnston (263 for 7) drew with Whitland Seconds (133 for 9)

Umpires: Steve Blowes & Dennis Chiffi
Scorers: Delyth Summons & Ann-Marie Jenkins

The final Whitland Seconds pair of George Harries and Shay Thomas left promotion chasing Johnston frustrated as they narrowly failed to pick up a 30 point win.

The tail-enders blocked out the final four overs after the visitors had struggled to respond to the home side’s massive total of 263-7.

Johnston actually got off to the worst possible start when David Dunfee bowled opener Daniel Sutton for a diamond duck, but No 3 Steve Mills joined John Summons at the crease, and the pair put on 126 before the latter went for 48 (eight fours).

Mills went on to make 72, hitting six fours and three maximums, before Ross Dewstowe and Steve’s brother Jack embarked on the second century stand of the innings.

They put on 101, with Mills making 63 (six fours and three sixes), while Dewstowe finished 51 not out (seven fours).

For the visitors, Matthew Webb took 4-27, and the expensive Dunfee 2-89.

Webb then top scored in Whitland’s reply, making 33 (one six and four fours), while Dan James (22), Connor Bowen (21) and Gethin Benjamin (20) all held up the home side’s quest for victory.

And despite the efforts of Kevin Roberts (4-20), Lee Summons (3-11), and Gary James (2-38), the leaders had to settle for a winning draw.

Inward and Brock go ballistic with the bat

Llangwm (193 for 7) beat Pembroke (191 for 9) by 3 wickets

Umpires: Dave Brandon & Mervyn John
Scorers: Janice Brick

Destructive knocks from Chris Inward and Luke Brock helped Llangwm chase down Pembroke’s total of 191-9 in just 34 overs at Pill Parks.

Inward smashed 64 off 44 balls, and Brock 44 off 36 balls, to keep their side’s promotion hopes on track.
Pembroke’s Andrew Hay had top scored for the visitors as he hit four fours and three sixes in his 44, while Jonathan Rogers (29), Sam Davies (19) and skipper Sean Powell (17) all helped set a challenging target.
For the home side, Ollie Davies led the bowling with 5-44, while James Venable took 2-32.

And Inward and Brock then took over to set up a superb Llangwm win, alongside Shaun Waller (22).
For Pembroke, who more than played their part in an entertaining clash, Lewis Wilks took 3-29, Jack Harries 2-53, and Davies 1-19.
