Scorers: Teagan Cartwright & Julie Davies

Cresselly enhanced their hopes of silverware with a hard-fought win over near-neighbours Carew which went down to the final over and with over 500 runs scored in a match which showed the best of local cricket.

Leading the way for Cresselly with the bat was opener Adam Chandler, who stroked 16 fours and a six en route to a match-winning 118 that demonstrated the high skill levels available on both talented teams.

Put in to bat first, Carew were behind the clock at 97 for 4 but then added another 153 in their final 20 overs as Shaun Whitfield continued his terrific run of form, blitzing four fours and five sixes in his 66 not out, with his 50 arriving from only 22 deliveries!

Tom Scourfield (45), Tim Hicks (seven boundaries in his 66), Brian Hall (27) and Tom Davies (18 not out) were the other major contributors for Carew as they finished up on 250 for 7 as Dan James (3 for 67), Ryan Lewis (3 for 53) and Sam Harts (1 for 45) were the successful bowlers for Cresselly.

Phil Williams (48) and Chandler gave Cresselly a good start in such a big run chase and Simon Cole put his vast experience of local derbies to good effect with five fours and two sixes in his undefeated 54 at the end of a cracking game of cricket.

For Carew, their wicket-takers were skipper Tom Davies (2 for 47), Ceri Brace (1 for 58) and Whitfield (1 for 56).

Sutton slams Pembroke in basement battle

Johnston (283 for 8) beat Pembroke (131 all out) by 152 runs

Umpires: Steve Blowes & Tony Waldeis
Scorer: Steve Mills Snr (Johnston)

Another century from superb stroke-maker Daniel Sutton was the undoubted highlight of this basement battle at Glebelands where Johnston slammed Pembroke and widened the gap between the teams at the foot of the table.

Sutton maintained his amazing run of league form as he opened the innings steadily with John Summons and then started to play the expansive strokes that saw him amass three sixes and 16 fours.

He sped to 128 before he top-edged a Billy Wood delivery to Sam Williams in the deep – and by then he had found support from Lee Summons (35) and Liam James (35 not out) in a huge score, with Wood claiming 2 for 63, Sam Davies (1 for 58) and Colin James (3 for 38) before Barry Evans picked up a late 2 for 37 from only four overs.

Evans also batted steadily for his 37 runs alongside Billy Wood (20), Paul White (18) and Rob Hearne (31 not out) but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals to Richard James (2 for 22), Jack Mills (1 for 25), Danny Dewstowe (2 for 17), Sutton (2 for 8) and Lee Summons (3 for 24) so that they have reached the half-way stage in the season still seeking that first win.

Kilgetty hold on for a ‘disappointing draw’

Lawrenny (216 for 9) drew with Kilgetty (123 for 5)

Umpires: Tony Scourfield
Scorers: Malcolm Thomas & Hazel Poole

Harry Thomas - top scored for LawrennyKilgetty managed to hold on for a draw against Lawrenny but were still 93 runs adrift at the end of their allotted overs and so were unable to get themselves out of their recent disappointing spell after a good start to their campaign.

Harry Thomas led the Lawrenny batting with eight boundaries in his 50, assisted by Steve Lewis (39), James Buckle (10), Brad McDermott-Jenkins (26), Joe Kidney (17) and Patrick Elliott (35), whilst Ross Hardy (1 for 41), Kurtis Marsh (1 for 29), Ollie Gamble (2 for 72), Jack Parkinson (1 for 45) and Jack Tucker (1 for 9) were the successful Kilgetty bowlers.

Kurt Marsh (27) and his brother Kyle (29) were the only early Kilgetty batsmen to make an impact against Rob Williams (1 for 29), Ryan Morton (2 for 9 in 10 miserly overs), Harry Thomas (1 for 18) and Steve Lewis (1 for 14) – but Ian Poole used his huge experience to good effect with 37 not out as he batted well to help deny Lawrenny victory.

Neyland bounce back to form

Neyland (215 for 6) beat Whitland (186 all out) by 29 runs

Nick Koomen was two runs short of a half century for NeylandUmpires: Arthur Brady & Denis Chiffi
Scorers: John Laugharne & Ann-Marie Jenkins

Neyland bounced back to something like their best form as they scored heavily against Whitland at The Athletic Ground and battled hard in the field before finally bowling out tough opposition with just over an over to spare in an absorbing clash.

Nick Koomen (48) and Patrick Bellerby (30) were the lynch-pins of the early Neyland batting before the late impetus was provided by Henry Durrant, with a typically beligerent 54 not out (four fours and a six) alongside skipper Sean Hannon’s late 18 not out.

Matthew Davies maintained his run of good bowling form for Whitland with 3 for 40, assisted by Greg Sleep’s slow stuff (2 for54) and Iestyn Scourfield’s (1 for 60).

Wayne Howells topped the Whitland batting with five fours and a six in his 52 alongside Greg Sleep (26) and Matthew Davies (35) but again Andrew Miller was the stand-out bowler for Neyland as his slow stuff mesmerised the opposition in his excellent 5 for 49 analysis, assisted by Jamie Smith (2 for 23), Henry Durrant (2 for 18) and Geraint Rees (1 for 20).

Tish gain the better of the draw against The Town

St Ishmaels (204 for 6) drew with Haverfordwest (186 for 7)

Umpires: Dave Brandon & Allan Hansen
Scorers: Wendy Bradshaw & Jayne Cole

Phil Cockburn - cracking innings for St IshmaelsSt Ishmaels gained a winning draw against Haverfordwest as reward for sticking to their task during pressure moments against opponents eager for victory to maintain their push for the top of the table.

St Ishmaels are traditionally slow starters but Phil Cockburn confirmed his growing reputation as a stroke-player with seven fours and two sixes in quickly advancing his team’s tally before he was dismissed for 76.

Andrew Williams (36), Johnny Pawlett (22) and then Brennan Devonald (23 not out) took Tish to a healthy score of 204 for 6 as The Town’s Adam James picked up 3 for 63 and had support from Johnny White (1 for 31), Kieran O’Connor (1 for 31) and Chris Phillips (1 for 27).

Simon Holliday led the visitors’ attack with 46 but with Andrew Pawlett’s slow stuff giving him figures of 5 for 44 alongside some useful bowling by Andrew Palmer and Danny Flynn, it looked as if the game had gone beyond Haverfordwest’s hopes until Adam James belted 40 in 25 balls, including four fours and three sixes.

He found useful support from Chris Phillips (32 not out) but James fell at the wrong time for his team and at the end of their 45 overs they were still 18 runs adrift but still with three wickets in hand.
