Beresford contributed 60 (eight fours and a six) and other useful contributions were made by Luke Brock (25), James Venables (17), Matthew Kiff (35), Chris Inward (15) and Richard Brock (14).

Town hang on to edge out Tish

St Ishmaels (139 all out) lost to Haverfordwest  (143 for 8)

Umpires: Les Hastings & Alan Hansen

Scorers: Wendy Bradshaw & Natalie Thomas

Haverfordwest maintained their 100% start to the season at St Ishmaels, but not before Tish pushed them all the way after a poor start.
Division One Cricket Reports 11th May 2013

Tish looked in real trouble at 80 for 7, only Gareth Cheshire (25) ever looking settled against the pace of Adam James (5 for 27 in 12 fiery overs) but the tail wagged through No 10 Andrew Pawlett, who smashed two fours and four sixes in his lightning quick 42, and teenager Jordan Milich, who batted 53 balls before being last out for 12 as Josh Wilment (3 for 50), Clive Tucker (1 for 21) and Nigel Morgan (1 for 22) were the other successful Town bowlers.

Jonathan Strawbridge gave Haverfordwest a flying start for the third match in succession as he struck eight fours in his 45 but got out just at the time he might well have destroyed the Tish bowling. Adam James (23), Danny Potter (14) and David Haynes (12) also scored runs for The Town against Andrew Pawlett (4 for 14), Danny Flynn (2 for 9) and Jonathan Pawlett (1 for 17) in a rain-interrupted Haverfordwest innings.

At 128 for 8 The Town were still not sure of success but Chris Phillips (10 not out) and Josh Wilment (8 not out) kept their nerve to edge Haverfordwest through, to the noisy delight of their relieved team mates!

Umpires: Rob Bellerby & Peter Perry

Scorers: Janice Webb & Dave Richards

Division One Cricket Reports 11th May 2013Cresselly’s disappointing start to the new season continued as they conceded a five-wicket defeat to Whitland after batting first and only managing to score 95 all out.

Only Phil Williams (17), Alex Bailey (12) and Nick Davies (29) could muster double figures amongst the Cresselly batsmen as David Dunfee spear-headed the home attack with 5 for 42 from his 9.3 overs, with support from Mark Lee, who had seven maidens as he claimed 2 for 11 in 12 typically miserly overs, Dan James (1 for 26) and Iestyn Scourfield (1 for 9).

Paul Davies (29), Dylan Blain (16) and Dai Lee (15) made sure that Whitland got off to a solid response against Lyn Richards (1 for 23), Matthew Morgan (1 for 14) and Bobby Webb (2 for 22).

Owain Evans rounded things off with 19 not out as Scourfield was also undefeated in a comfortable five-wicket success for Whitland.

Narberth’s good start continues

Narberth (214 for 7) drew with Carew (133 for 5)

Umpires: Richard Merriman & Arthur Brady

Scorers: Peter Hughes & Ceri Davies
Division One Cricket Reports 11th May 2013

Narberth’s excellent start to the season continued as they so dominated their match against champions Carew that they pouched all the draw points despite being unable to overcome stout resistance from veteran skipper Robbie Hicks and talented youngster James Hinchliffe after Carew had lurched to 55 for 5.

Marc Hughes had five fours in his 47 and Ritchie Adams five fours and two sixes in his 43 as the Narberth pair shared an opening stand of 72, with other supporting cameos from Kyle Quartermaine (26), Mike Scale (35) and Dan Hughes (28).

Tom Davies (4 for 55) and Rhys Davies (2 for 47) took the wickets for Carew but after tea their early batting struggled against Ian Hughes (2 for 23 in 12 overs), Ben Quartermaine (1 for 25) and Ollie Cook (1 for 15).

But then Robbie Hicks played the skipper’s role for Carew as he struck six boundaries in his 49 not out and Hinchliffe gave excellent support with his undefeated 31 as the pair added 78 without further loss to make sure of the draw.

Another tame losing draw for Llanrhian

Llanrhian (131 for 7) drew with Neyland (218 for 5)

Umpires: David Loosmore & Dai Morris
Division One Cricket Reports 11th May 2013

Llanrhian are clearly finding it hard going in the top echelon but managed to hold on for a tame draw against Neyland at Llandigige Fawr thanks to another half century by Gareth ‘Cadfael’ Davies.

Leading the way for Neyland after they had been asked to bat first was opening bat Paul Murray, who showed that he had re-found his best form after surviving an early chance, with seven fours and four sixes before he finally departed on exactly 100. Nick Koomen (29), Ashley Sutton (30, including four boundaries) and Andrew Miller (20 not out) were the other principal run-makers for Neyland as Gareth Davies claimed 2 for 62 and Nigel Delaney was the pick of the Llanrhian bowlers with  1 for 36 in 12 economical overs.

Davies could play for any team in the county and he stroked his way to 52 (seven boundaries) before he was removed at a vital time, with Ben Jones (21), Nigel Delaney (19 not out) and Geraint Morris (17) as the only Llanrhian batsman to reach double figures against Patrick Hannon (2 for 19), Andrew Miller (2 for 42), Anton John (1 for 16) and Nick Koomen (1 for 23) in the Neyland bowling attack.
