Steve Mills - bowled well for Llangwm

Llangwm leather Burton to keep in touch at the top by Fraser Watson

Llangwm (98 for 2) beat Burton (94 all out) by 8 wickets

Umpires: Arthur Brady and Glyn Cole.
Scorers: Janice Brick and Janice Webb.

Chris Inward - four-wicket haul in Llangwm successA four wicket haul from Chris Inward ensured Llangwm made light work of their derby game with Burton.

In fact, the one regret of the hosts may have been opting to field first, meaning they inadvertently denied themselves a chance to push for a maximum 20 points.

The visitors were 48 for 2 at one stage as Jonathan Venables (16) and Morgan Scale (14) both notched two boundaries to steady the ship after Joe Phillips had dismissed openers Toby Hayman (9) and Jack Davies (10) early.

But then Inward wreaked havoc in a spell of 4 for 14 in seven overs, and Steve Mills also took 3 for 38 as Phillips finished 2 for 20 and Noah Davies 1 for 17 – with five of the latter’s nine overs being maidens.

In the end, Burton were indebted to No 8 Matthew Webb, who blitzed three fours and a six in his knock of 20, to take them up to 94 all out.

William Beresford and Joe Kiff put on 54 in Llangwm’s reply, but the former was forced to retire hurt after cracking five fours in his 24.

Kiff wasn’t hanging around either, hitting two fours and three sixes in his 28 before being caught by James Davies off Morgan Scale.

Scale also removed Matthew Kiff (8) in his 2 for 16 but Steve Mills (12 not out) and Luke Brock, who faced just five balls but managed to steer three of them to the boundary and one over the rope for six to make 18 not out, rounded off matters.

Harries hits Pembroke to victory

Haverfordwest 2nds (149 for 5) lost to Pembroke (155 for 4) by 6 wickets

Scorer: Natalie Thomas

Jack Harries - led Pembroke to victoryNigel Morgan - gritty play for HaverfordwestSkipper Jack Harries played a match winning knock of 69 not out as Pembroke kept their composure to beat Haverfordwest 2nds at The Racecourse.

Chasing a tricky 150, Harries entered the fray with his side’s run chase in the balance at 40 for 3, but struck eight fours and a six in his innings to turn the tide.

Put into bat, The Town were in trouble early as openers James Marchant (2) and John Tooze (7) fell to Jonathan Rogers – who was on the money for his spell of 2 for 16 in nine overs.

But Ashoka Senavirathna salvaged matters with a stubborn 37 off 86 balls (four fours), putting on 74 with skipper Nigel Morgan, who also looked solid in his 32 (four fours).

Both eventually were removed by Sam Davies (2 for 23) and although Harries (2 for 31) also notched two late wickets, Phil Rees (19) helped take the hosts to a competitive total of 149 for 5.

Pembroke reached 39 in their reply before brief chaos, losing three wickets for one run as Rogers (22) was bowled by Dean Flood after cracking four boundaries, and fellow opener Paul White (14) holed out to Simon Williams off the same bowler who went to finish with 2 for 40.

In-between those scalps, Luke Butler gave a return catch to Marchant without scoring but in came Harries to steady the ship, backed up by Tom Kaijaks, who made 14 before being trapped lbw by Nigel Morgan - and then Will Davies (25 not out) stayed with him to get the job done with eight overs to spare.

Tons up for Davies and Smith as The Dock go 21 points clear

Pembroke Dock (295 for 5) beat Carew 2nds (46 all out) by 249 runs

Scorers: Craig Butland & Robert Hicks

Jake Davies - fine century for Pembroke DockGeorge Smith - first senior century - and unbeaten tooJake Davies and George Smith ensured Pembroke Dock’s juggernaut continues to roll as both hit centuries in a huge win over Carew 2nds.

Davies made 118 (20 fours) and Smith, who went into the game still looking for a for half century at senior level, cracked 117 not out (12 fours and 6 sixes) to help the hosts post a massive 295 for 5 before The Rooks were dismissed for 46.

It was no surprise when home skipper Scott Griffiths opted to bat first on a road of a pitch at Imble Lane, and Davies and namesake Griffiths put on 68 before the latter was caught by Hayden Shapcott off Simon Wood (1 for 65) for a quick 30 (two fours and three sixes).

Griffiths himself was bowled by Barry Evans (1 for 30) for 11, but then Davies and Smith shared a stand of 135.

The former reached 118 – 80 of which came in boundaries via 20 fours, before being caught by Jack Scourfield off Kerry Waters (1 for 64).

Nick Daley (3) fell quickly to Ashley Williams (1 for 34) but Smith finished unbeaten on 117 with 12 fours and six maximums.

And the youngster didn’t rest there as he ran out Shapcott for 11 in Carew’s reply, with the opener ending up as the away side’s top scorer although skipper Evans batted defiantly for 10 not out off 50 balls.

For The Dock, Daley took 1 for 6, Euan MacDonald 2 for 9, Rob Hearn 3 for 15, and Smith rounded off a memorable day with a second run out and figures of 3 for 5 in seven overs.

**Special thanks go to Craig Butland, who stepped in to help us out in the unavoidable absence of Nicola Murray - and did a great job of keeping us informed!**

Malloy on the money as Herbie move third

Herbrandston (76 for 0) beat Kilgetty (74 all out) by 10 wickets

Scorers: Gary Davies and Rose Jenkins.

Jonty Bennett - batted well for HerbieCharlie Malloy - excellent bowling by talented teenagerYoungster Charlie Malloy underlined his potential with a spell of 3 for 7 in 8 overs in Herbie’s comfortable win over Kilgetty.

The hosts were boosted in the week with the return of twins Harry and Jack Nicholas from St Ishmaels, but it was their father Paul who joined Malloy in doing the damage, taking 4 for 19 as the visitors had no answer to the slow bowling of the pair.

Harry Nicholas (1 for 30), Kristan Bennett (1 for 10), and Leigh Marchant (1 for 1) also grabbed a wicket as only Tom Lewis (13), Martin Lewis (14), and Ollie Gamble (15) ever looked like getting going in a meagre total of 75 all out.

Herbie then wasted no time in the reply, losing no wickets as Jonty Bennett (38 not out) and Harry Nicholas (28 not out) helped their side to third in the table.

Stags off the bottom with a welcome first win

Hook (138 all out) lost to Lamphey (158 all out) by 20 runs

Scorer: Helen Hodges (Lamphey).

Peter McGilloway - starred all-round for LampheyAled Phelps - five wickets as Hook loseLamphey rounded off the opening half of the season with their first league win of 2021 as their total of 158 all out proved too much for Hook.

Their score owed much to a series of contributions, and although Peter McGilloway (47), Nick Shelmerdine (37), David Blackwell (15) Grant Cole (14), and Rob Mathias (12) were unable to push on from good starts they helped set a competitive score.

For Hook, it was young Aled Phelps who starred with the ball with 5 for 34, while brother Owen (2 for 28), Brennan Martin (2 for 14), and Lewis Murphy (1 for 23) were also in the wickets.

It was Owen (30) and Aled (22) who then did much of the work in the reply while Jake Wicks top scored with 38 – but McGilloway (3 for 26), David Blackwell (2 for 37) and newcomer David Dredge (2 for 19) broke the back of the batting as The Stags moved off the bottom of the table for the first time this season.
