Paul Tough - in action for Town 2nds at Pill Parks against newly crowned champions Llangwm

Davies and Mills secure the silverware for Llangwm

Llangwm (51 for 0) beat Haverfordwest 2nds (50 all out) by 10 wickets

Scorers: Janice Brick and Natalie Thomas.

Ollie Davies - a five-wicket haul for Llangwm pace manLlangwm will be going up as champions after making very light work of Haverfordwest 2nds.

The Town elected to bat, possible to avoid a long day at Pill Parks, and were shot out for 50 before Matthew Kiff’s men secured a 10 wicket win.

They hold a 20 point lead over Pembroke Dock heading into the final day, but even in the very unlikely scenario of The Dock drawing level next weekend, Llangwm will take the title by virtue of having played fewer completed games.

The result here was never in doubt from when Matthew Kiff ran out away opener Jon Twose (1) early on, and his partner Paul Tough made 13 before Davies had him lbw.
?
From there it was the Davies and Mills show, with the former taking 2 for 27 in in his eight overs, including that of top scorer Richard Davies who came in No 7 and cracked three fours and a six in his 21.

Mills meanwhile, took 4 for 4 in eight overs, five of which were maidens.

Openers Will Beresford and Jo Kiff then took just eight overs to reach their target, Beresford hitting four boundaries in his unbeaten 30 while Kiff as usual teed off to make 29 off 18 balls, including two fours and three maximums.

Peter McGilloway and David Blackwell - helped Lamphey to vital victory

Stags secure safety in Carew

Carew 2nds (137 all out) lost to Lamphey (160 for 9) by 23 runs

Scorers: Nick Davies and Helen Hodges.

Max Brindley - four-wicket haul for Carew 2ndsThere will be no nervy finale for Lamphey after this win in Carew, coupled by Kilgetty losing elsewhere, ensured their safety ahead of the final weekend.

The Stags were promoted back in 2019 but due to Covid-19, this season represented their first back in the second tier and despite not recording a win until their ninth game of the summer, have recovered superbly.

Here they racked up 160 for 9 as the reliable Peter McGilloway struck 67 (9 fours and a six) - and there were also runs for Lewis Haines (27), David Dredge (15), David Blackwell (16), and Sam Burrows (23 not out).

For Carew, Max Brindley led the bowling with 4 for 25, and George Waters (2 for 50), Kerry Waters (1 for 23) and skipper Barry Evans (1 for 26) took wickets.

But their reply fell 23 runs short, despite a defiant seventh-wicket stand of 69 as Jacob Knox top scored with 38, and Evans again showing defiance late on to be unbeaten on 30, Lamphey wrapped things up with good spells from the likes of Grant Cole (3 for 41), Dredge (2 for 20), Blackwell (2 for 38) and McGilloway (1 for 14).

Kristan Bennett - another five-wicket haul for Herbie

Nicholas knocks Pembroke to all parts

Herbrandston (183 for 9) beat Pembroke (100 all out) by 83 runs

Jack Nicholas - superb 134 for HerbrandstonJack Nicholas made Pembroke pay dearly for their decision to bowl first at Herbrandston as he made a career best 134, before Kristan Bennett cleaned the visitors up with the ball.

Nicholas hit 16 fours and 5 sixes in his sublime innings, while Bennett blasted a quick-fire 41, cousin Jonty hit 22, and Jack's twin brother Harry made 33.

For Pembroke, Jack Harries impressed with 4 for 41 while George Davies took 2 for 41,  Paul White 2 for 44 and Steve Durston 1-38 - and despite the Nicholas knock a final total of 183 for 9 wasn't insurmountable.

But the away side then fell to 100 all out as only Durston (34) and Jamie Kaijaks (21) got going, while Bennett's spell of 5 for 15 ended any hopes of a run chase.

Dean John also took 2 for 38 and it was the Nicholas twins’ father, Paul, who completed a good day for the family with 2 for 28.

Jack Davies - -batted and bowled really well in Burton win

Burton set up a big final day

Hook (64 all out) lost to Burton (177 for 9) by 113 runs

Scorers: Joy James and Janice Webb.

Burton will head into the final day just five points off second-placed Pembroke Dock after this comprehensive win at Hook.

Their total of 177 for 9 proved way too much as the trio of Johnny Scale, Matthew Webb, and Jack Davies had the hosts all out for just 64.

Burton's total owed much to opener Jack Davies, who made 45, while Toby Hayman hit 19 and there were decent knocks from Morgan Scale (26), George Williams (29), Martin James (17) and Dan Ridge (21 not out).

For Hook, Callum James (1 for 58), Matthew Holder (3 for 22), Aled Phelps (1 for 30), and Bradley Flood (2 for 23) did the bulk of the work with the ball.

James then top scored along with Bradley Flood as both made 14, while Matthew Holder hit 13, but Scale (3 for 11), Matthew Webb (4 for 19) and Davies (1 for 18) wrapped things up.

Burton's task next week is a tough one mind - they will have to inflict a first defeat of the season on Llangwm - whilst also hoping Pembroke Dock slip up at Carew.

Despite defeat, Hook's safety was confirmed due to results elsewhere.

Davies takes The Dock to the brink

Pembroke Dock (248 for 9) beat Kilgetty (115 all out) by 133 runs

Scorers: Nicola Murray and Rose Jenkins.

Jake Davies - 81 runs for Pembroke Dock openerJake Davies hit 81 to move Pembroke Dock to the brink of the promised land as they hammered Kilgetty.

The Dock racked up 248 for 9, and then dismissed their opponents for 115 - meaning 16 points against Carew 2nds next Saturday will secure promotion.

For Kilgetty however, this result means they will play in Division 3 next season for the first time since 2013.

Davies hit 14 fours in his 88-ball knock after sharing 62 with opening partner Jake Griffiths, who himself blasted three fours and a six in his 28 before being bowled by Anthony Bevan.

Nick Daley came in at No 3 and made 18 (two fours) before being bowled by Stuart Allen - and Davies himself was fifth man out after being caught by Toby Poole off Levi Hughes.

But at 152 for 5 skipper Scott Griffiths and Tom Grimwood continued momentum, Griffiths making 45 (four fours and a six) and Grimwood 28 (one four) in a huge Dock total of 248 for 9.

Pick of the Kilgetty bowlers were Ian Poole (2 for 25) and Allen (2 for 39).
The reply was in trouble early as last week's hero, Toby Poole, nicked Billy Wood behind to Griffiths for a duck and from there wickets fell regularly.

No 5 Josh Bevan top scored with 38 in just 31 balls, including five fours and two sixes, while Andrew Evans also tried to counter-attack with 22 in 16 balls - 18 of which came in boundaries.

But the innings was all over inside the 29th over as George Smith took 3 for 41, Wood 1 for 13, Jamie White 2 for 13, Euan McDonald 1 for 6, Daley 1 for 38, and Scott Brunton 1 for 1.
